2012 Jeep Patriot Fuel Issue
Have an issue with my son's 2012 Jeep Patriot I'm looking for advice on. It won't take fuel without clicking off after a second or two. No matter how slow you go.
Repair shop wants $1600 to put a new fuel tank on it because the "flow chart" says to replace the tank. The thing is barely worth $1600 to begin with. He's a teenager and this is his first car. I'm not looking to sink even more into it after I just put $1,000 into the damn rear brakes (which weren't even functional they said).
The great oracle that is YouTube seems to suggest there is some charcoal filter evap vent thing-a-jig that is $200 that usually fixes these symptoms. Any thoughts on if that's worth a shot, or do I just bite the bullet and pay the extortion fee to the shop? I asked them about the filter and they said it's not on the "flow chart" for them to check.
