I am looking to buy a Toyota sienna in a very specific timeframe (specific weekend resulting from move). I understand I can’t order one based on discussions with multi dealers. One dealership was suggesting to get a down payment that was refundable to help the process and get a car in that timeframe. My question is whether or not I can just monitor the Toyota website and work with the dealers where I see the minivans coming in or if there’s a value in going the deposit route?

TLDR - do dealers have more insight into which vehicles are available/in build phase as compared to the user on Toyota’s website?
