will this negatively impact my application
hi guys, i took french freshman and sophomore year, but decided to drop the class junior year to allow myself room for an extra AP. however, i understand that it is crucial for me to take three years of a language to get into a good college and that has caused me a small dilemma. my options are either taking French 4 next year (yes, that would mean jumping from French 2 to 4) or scrapping French all together and taking a language course level 6 honors/ap at a community college (that way i have two years french + advanced honors/ap LOTE). the community college course wouldnt go on my school transcript but it would still be submitted on my college application and give me college credit. i personally would do much better in the honors course as I am fluent in that language and would struggle going from french level 2 to 4, making me very unlikely to get an A (and ruining my unweighted 4.0 gpa). i also was told it would look good on college apps because i would be connecting with my culture which is a big bonus. however i also know that it is recommended to take at least three years of a language for most colleges and im not sure if the advanced honors course would satisfy that requirement. from college experts, do you think that taking the level 6 honors course (which would theoretically signify that i took six years of that language) would harm my college apps in contrast of taking three years of french? i need a genuine answer because i want to go to a moderately prestigious college (specifically my goal is nyu)
