Hey everyone,
I’m currently living in the EU and was planning to apply for Canadian PR, but last year I was caught while driving and the case is still ongoing in court.

From the research I’ve done so far, it seems like a DUI charge or conviction can seriously affect PR eligibility and could potentially lead to an automatic rejection.

Because of that, I’m trying to understand what my realistic options are moving forward.
I do have a solicitor representing me and I plan on fighting the case, but I’m also trying to be realistic since blood samples were taken at the time.
So I wanted to ask:

  1. If you were in my position, would you wait for the court outcome before applying for PR?
  2. Would it still make sense to apply now anyway?
  3. Or is waiting several years until the offence is considered “spent”(5 years) the smarter option?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar, knows someone who has or understands the Canadian immigration/legal side of this.

Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, just wanted to check if anyone here has applied for a Stamp 1G extension (after the 2 years) recently and heard back? I know the official processing time says around 12 weeks, but I’m a bit worried because I’ve seen people mention they’re still waiting on decisions from applications submitted around September/October 2025.

My current Stamp 1G (second year) expires mid-October and my main concern is not being able to support myself if there’s a long delay and I can’t work while waiting.

For anyone who’s been in a similar situation:

>When did you apply, and how long did it take?

>Would you recommend applying right at the 8–10/12 week mark, or earlier?

>Has anyone tried applying too early and had their application rejected because of it? If so, how early did you apply?

Sorry for all the questions just trying to plan things properly and avoid any mistakes. Really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share 🙏 Thank you so much 😊
