The question of what qualifies as a recolor for a legacy skins.

The question of what qualifies as a recolor for a legacy skins.

First of all, I love all the new skins we have gotten with this Legacy Chronicle drop and I think the amount of goodies for the price of 1250BB is immensly good value for anyone, whenever you got the OG mythic skins or not, so while this discussion might come across the classic
"Hunt players are never happy!", I will stress that this is not the case, I brought the content and I have no issues with the skins I paid for.

With that said, while browsing some the new skins I did come across something that got me thinking; are the new skins for the Frontier C recolors or new skins all together?

When looking at the Bayou Phoniex and the new Light's Purpose, there is no indications that these skins are supposed to be the "same skin", just with a different coat of colors.
While both a guns decorated in native american patterns and styles, they are still vastly different in those patterns and colors that they are basically two different skins.
Another layer to this, is the fact that the original Bayou Phoenix was "just" a recolor of a base Frontier Marksman, with no 3D modeling added to it whatsoever, so the only thing that makes the Bayou Phoenix the Bayou Phoenix is its colors and patterns.

Again, I think the new patterns looks GREAT and I really don't mind having more options for my choice of skins in Hunt.
But I'm also biased by the fact that I already own the OG Bayou Phoenix, so I might not have the want for obtaining that skin as highly as someone else would have.

But I'm trying to think a little forward here and see this in a worst case scenario, where a mythic skin, which is highly sought after by many, ends up becoming a whole different looking gun due to same kind of approach that have been done to the Bayou Phoenix.

The Moonflower is a good example of such a skin, that I know a whole lot of people want to get their hands on it, even if its juts a recolor, but that skin techincally could get the same treatment of a whole do-over instead of a recolor.

Again, all this is just something that have been on my mind for a while and just needed it to throw it out there and see other's people perspective of it all.
Because if it is something people find issue with, the feedback should be given now instead when it is too late.

Again, personally for me, this time around, I don't mind it, I like the new skins, but I don't know if its should set a precedent of being a valid way to approach recolors of mythic skins going forward.

- Cheers!
