A harsh reminder not to put all your eggs in one basket
Hellooo everyone!
I wanted to share a quick reality check and a lesson I just learned the hard way, mostly to remind anyone else who might be getting a little too comfortable on one platform.
Last month was literally my best month ever for online findom. My revenue hit amazing milestones, my X account was growing rapidly, the algorithm was absolutely loving me, and everything felt completely aligned. Then today all that changed.
It took one disgruntled person to derail that momentum. I’m not sure if it was a jealous pocket-watcher or a sub I dismissed, but they went on a massive reporting spree and essentially got my profile health nuked and it will remain that way for a while. Last time something like this happened it took a solid 6 months to fix things.
I’m in my 30s my frontal lobe is fully formed thus I stay completely out of any drama. I have zero interest in it, I keep my dynamics healthy, ethical and run my business professionally, I completely focus on my own lane, so I know this wasn't due to something within my control. So don't think just because you keep focused on yourself this won't happen to you!
Thankfully, I was able to appeal the bogus "violence" reports because clearly, I am not actually violent lol. But unfortunately, a flag has now been put on my account anyway, and my engagement has been cut in more than half.
It was a massive wake-up call. I got lazy. Because X was going so well, I got comfortable and stopped diversifying to the best of my abilities. I slacked off on live-streaming and stopped utilizing other platforms, like here on Reddit, over the last few months... big mistake.
Thank Goddess however I have built solid infrastructure outside of X. My regulars are locked in on Telegram and through my own website, so my business isn't ruined. But damn, it’s a frustrating setback for a while.
Let this be your sign to protect your self and always be prepared for the worst. Don't rely too heavily on any single third-party platform or algorithm, because it only takes one bitter person to try and take it down and with AI a okaying things willy nilly its more often than not they will succeed. Good luck to me getting through to an actual human on X.
Diversify your traffic and keep building your independent channels consistently! Things will work out. Anyway, expect to see more of me here again hahaha.
