Free to a Good Home : 1985 SpeedScript book by Charles Brannon

(Hope this is allowed here - apologies if it’s against the sub’s rules).

I found my old SpeedScript book while clearing out some old boxes. Back in the day I used SpeedScript on my C64 in both high school and college; despite being a free type-in program it held its own against more expensive commercial word processing software. As a bonus I also learned a lot from the annotated 6510 assembly listing included in this book.

I’m trying to reduce the amount of stuff in my life, so I’m ready to let the book go. I’d hate to throw it away, and I doubt it would be worth the effort to sell online, so I’m willing to send it to a C64 fan who would appreciate it and find it useful.

DM me if you’re interested.

Buried under a mound of paper. How do you manage it?

I've been trying to slowly declutter my house and I'm facing a huge amount of paper that we've accumulated over the years: tax returns, account statements, paystubs, job-related documents, kids' school documents, bills, receipts, cards, manuals, warranties, etc, etc.

Right now it's all sitting in a couple of storage bins in the basement, but I'd love to get rid of it or at least reduce it substantially.

I have a scanner and I've digitized some of what I deem to be most important, but it's hard to know what of the rest should be kept, and if so, the best way to keep it and for how long.

We've been around a while and no doubt others have a big paper trail. How do my fellow GenXers manage this stuff?

1835 Half Cent found this weekend

Went for a hunt last weekend, my first one in weeks. My best find was this US 1835 classic head half cent. Gotta love seeing old copper in the dirt!

Visited Dinosaur National Monument!

Two weeks ago I took an epic road trip through Utah, Colorado and Arizona. One of my stops was Dinosaur National Monument, a place I’ve wanted to see since I was a kid. The enormous fossil wall at the Quarry Visitor Center was absolutely spectacular, not to mention the ancient petroglyphs, hiking trails and breathtaking landscapes. One more item checked off my bucket list!

Last Week’s Roadtrip: 8 days, 5 parks

Last week my son and I flew out to Utah for an 8-day road trip where we visited Dinosaur NM, Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde and Zion (plus Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon). It was absolutely epic, a trip I’ve been planning for years, and we had a blast. For us Zion and Arches were the highlights, but every park was amazing.

Did they ever reveal the person who makes the announcements over the MASH PA system? I used to think it was Radar, but there are numerous scenes where Radar is shown doing other things while announcements are made.
