21 days in and I’m back 100%

Hey all. Just wanted to come in and share a positive story. I know there aren’t many, as most who heal don’t come back, which I get it. I freaked out and read up on everything I could. I was freaking out at the thought of 3-6 months. I’m happy to say that after 20ish days, I’m back to normal. This isn’t to boast, but to let you know it’s possible.

I was put on prednisone and valtrex right away, after they ruled out the stroke. I saw peak of the worst of it around day 3 or 4. I did my best not to stress and made sure to keep my unblinking eye as wet as I could.

A few things I tried:

Redlight therapy (don’t think it helped but it was relaxing)

A warm eye mask (it helped keep my eye wet)

Vitamin B12 (I read a lot on here saying it helped, not sure it did, but it didn’t hurt)

A heating pad on my paralyzed face (felt fabulous, but be careful not to burn yourself since you can’t feel it)

Gel drops with half a sleep mask across the bad eye (100% recommended. Kept my eyes from drying out)

Most important advice is not to stress. I felt some tingling in my lips and then my eyes around day 10ish and then slowly the teeth started showing more when I smiled. It gets better. Hang in there.

Vent, advice, both?

Quick summary, we’ve been in an affair for 10+ years at this point. This is the first year that he’s made mention of a separation (Feb) and not because of our affair. I think his wife knows I exist, but has never approached me about it. Rings on, rings off. Vacation together, by “obligation.”

Fast forward. We are fighting all over the place. More me because I feel like my emotions are all over the place. He’s moving out, now he’s not. He’s in a separate bedroom. The wedding ring is on, it’s off, it’s on, it’s off. I don’t need him divorced today, but I need some type of plan/timeline of whats going on. He lives in “I don’t know.”

I love him so much, I really do. He said I’ve been mean, ugly and snappy. I’ll admit it. I have been. This is not an easy life, esp for this long. I want to break the tension. I really do, but I can’t seem to get out of rage mode. We or more me just keeps coming at him. I can’t help it. I’m frustrated, angry, annoyed. All of it. He’s basically telling me he’s done with his wife and very close to being done with me too.

I need advice. To vent. To scream. i dont know. I just need us to be back on the same team and not against each other. We are holding on by a tiny thread.

There’s hope

I’m on Day 18 of Bells Palsy and I’m about 90% healed. I share my story because I came on this thread on Day 1, freaking out and looking for any advice. I read everything I could and was prepared for 3-6 months to a year to no recovery at all. Well, there is hope.

I went to the ER thinking I was having a stroke. Thankfully I wasn’t. I was put on prednisone for 5 days and valtrex for 10 days. I tried to stay as stress free as possible. I rested, tried redlight therapy and used a heating pad on my face. Beyond that, I just let it do its thing.

The first sign of life came around Day 10. My eye started to twitch and I felt tingling around my lips. When I smiled, I could see a little more of my teeth. Then a few days of no progress. By Days 15-18, I saw the most progress. Each of those days I could see more teeth and today I can just about see them all and my eye feels like it’s just about blinking at the same pace.

I came back to this thread to say relax as much as you can. Avoid the stress. Protect the eye!!! Take the meds, rest and you will be fine. I saw no stories on here about a 3-4 week recovery and now I am that story. Good luck!!!

I’m teething!!!

Hello all! I am on Day 15 of this wonderful BP diagnosis and I wanted to give you an update. I smiled today and say 1 1/2 more teeth. I called my mom and told her to add it to my baby book cause I’m teething! You need to have humor in this.

My head hurts and so does my tongue. It’s interesting because I never thought I’d say my tongue hurt. I’m taking all the pain as a positive because it means something is trying to reconnect.

Put those positive pants on everyone. It gets better!!!

One week in with BP

Hello! I am one week into this miserable diagnosis. I’m curious as to when everyone started showing signs of recovery and what were they? I keep hoping I’ll just wake up and look normal again.

For context, it’s my entire right side. No taste, no movement.

Vacation Update

So interestingly enough, the 10 day “last minute” vacation with the wife, child, inlaws and her extended family turned into 2 weeks. He texted me this morning to say he’d be home late tonight. My full access to him that he promised resulted in getting a good morning text and if I was lucky, a goodnight text. Full access was limited access to maybe a text once a day.

To be honest, I’m over the entire thing. I really don’t want him to come back home and I’ve got no desire to reach out. You’d think after 10 years together, it wouldn’t be like this. He’s claiming they are separating since Feb, but I’ve seen no movement.

I think I’m going to ask him for a break while I figure it all out or I may just ghost him all together. I haven't fully decided yet.

They are on vacation…

Sigh. So he dropped the bomb on me last minute (like 6 hours before departure) that they were going on a 10 day vacation with the in-laws and a bunch of other family.

For a little background, back in Feb he’s claiming they are separating and he’s moving out. I’ve seen zero proof of it and it’s becoming a sore subject.

He sat me down and said we need to do better communicating and that I need to trust him. That nothing is going on and he’s going because he wants to spend as much time with their child as he can.

To be honest, I’m not buying any of his excuses. I don’t really believe anything and I think the “trust me” comment was made so I wouldn’t spiral. I’m guessing his wife has no idea they are “separating“ and I bet all his relationship woes would be news to her.

So now I’m stuck with a knot in my stomach while they are off playing the perfect family. Please talk me off the ledge. I feel like I’m spiraling.
