Couldn't help but getting distracted while watching the movie at how similar her relationship with Grace is to Charlie and Jeremy's. Grace is the serious rule follower, often stoic in manner, and has to deflect or redirect Grace's energy. She also often seems bemused by Grace despite her frustrations. Just a wonderfully written and performed character.

And I'd argue there is certainly a resemblance to Charlie, although I doubt he's as good at karaoke.

Should buyers collectively start asking sellers not to use AI images and text?

Maybe we've already missed the chance to create a cultural norm, but I'd like to see more people push back against AI generated/edited text and images in people's listings - whether it's FB, ebay or whatever platform you use.

I think if enough people hear it from more than one buyer, they'll start to listen. It's already running rampant in the real estate world, and we're beginning to hear people say things like, "this house doesn't look in person like it did in the photos"

Just this morning I was browsing an estate sale listing on FBM and the seller used both an AI title card and all the furniture was artificially staged and lighted. AI descriptions on other items too.

I decided that I'm going to be "that guy" and politely message sellers not to use AI...I'm not going to be combative or fight about it, but rather just tell them that I'm less likely to attend sales where AI is used. In this case I did, and seller gave me back an eye roll emoji and "then please don't come". But if 10 or 20 people sent the same message, they might get the hint.

The image below really trips my sense of uncanny valley - I'm surprised I react so strongly to AI but I do. It's like looking at a mutant or a mis-born creature. I could list a dozen reasons why images like this are counterproductive or useless, but unfortunately its becoming the norm. None of these images are actual items in the sale of course, so don't show up looking for a rake with a 2' long handle or you'll be disappointed!

What's even weirder is that it seems like older people are adopting it more quickly than young folks - maybe it's the ease of use that's attractive to people who aren't native to tech?

Rant over...for now.

I genuinely like Altman's concept for the live action Popeye (1980) but it's practically unwatchable.

I've tried to get through this film several times. I love the little world of Sweethaven, the characters are well rendered, the songs are fun, Shelley Duvall is perfectly cast...but it's practically unwatchable due to the sound mixing.

It seems like every line of dialogue except Popeye's mumbling is done in ADR, and his lines are impossible to hear - just gibberish. Which, if that was a deliberate choice, it's a terrible one. I tried again last night and came away with the feeling of being in a dementia simulator.

Was there some production disaster that required the film to be dubbed, or are there just a bunch of bad versions available on streaming?

Our 1992 Trane AC was still going strong until we had it serviced last year. Wondering if my HVAC used wrong refrigerant?

Trane TXC031C4HPA0 is original to our 1992 house and always did ok, but it's a 2.5 ton unit and a bit undersized. I've kept it going with new fan and capacitors over the years but it never needed refrigerant until recently.

It wasn't cooling well last summer and we had it serviced. Tech said it was an R-22 unit and added a couple pounds. Total cost $500. He came highly recommended but is an independent local guy.

It survived last summer but would barely cool when we tried it for the first time last week. Called the same tech and he found oil around the coil and lineset on the outside unit. Diagnosis - replacement, but recommended keeping our furnace (I agree with that part, furnace is solid old school trane.)

Here's the problem - I ran the model number on the indoor unit and it comes back as an R-410 model. Assuming that's correct, did the tech either lie and fill it with R410 and bill me for R-22, or did he screw up and put R-22 in the unit? And did that kill it? Would it even have run with R-22?

We manage several properties and have had nothing but frustration with HVAC companies. Thinking I may just tackle the replacement myself. I've done mini-splits before and I have equipment to vacuum everything down, etc. It's just out of my comfort zone.

Another note - he just wanted to reuse the old lineset without flushing, which I'm reading is fine for R410 to R32, but not for R22 to R32...Red flag?

How's Tipp City looking these days?

Former Daytonian here, left about 20 years ago. Never spent any time in Tipp but recently drove through the old part of town and out into the country a bit for a job.

Gotta say, that's a beautiful looking main street - big old well kept houses, nice wide streets. Just outside of town, the farms and views were wonderful. But weirdly, everyone we saw out in public looked like they just left a halfway house.

How's things going up there lately?

Anyone have experience with Sanborn Construction or their projects (youtuber/influencer)

Somehow their channel popped up in my Youtube feed and the content is really interesting, but I'm definitely getting a weird vibe from them. Videos are a mix of 'disaster tourism' as they inspect run down or recently vacated properties and give estimates for potential investors, and renovation work. There's some neat historical architecture commentary as well.

Recently they started a 6 home 'affordable development' on a vacant lot with the goal of flipping it, but they could barely manage the site surveying and groundbreaking. And as my wife pointed out, they have a lot of projects in progress, but haven't posted videos of anything that's finished.

Anyone care to share the tea on these folks?

Question about stats for promoted offsite listings

So I'm trying Promoted Offsite for the first time. Using a low budget of $6/day and it's just starting the 'learning period', so only about 25 listings are on the report out of several thousand.

Downloaded the stats for the first couple days. 55 clicks, $14.88 sales and $13.70 in fees - not surprising that's it's a breakeven.

My question is - Report shows 55 clicks. Is that clicks anywhere including on and off ebay, or only clicks from offsite?

Also, the one item that sold, showed shows 0 clicks and when I check the Order Details, no Promoted Listings Fee was charged (this was listed at 2% promotion).

So does that mean this item just happened to be one of the handful included in Offsite, but it sold organically?
