For background- I was a Reading Recovery teacher as well as a grade 1/2 teacher. I used to offer tutoring services about ten years ago, but there has been so many changes in literacy, I’m not quite sure how to get myself prepared to be more current (I’ve been out of education for about 4 years).

Does anyone offer Early Years reading tutoring services?
I’m hoping to begin offering some tutoring to students in the Fall in Ontario, Canada. I have been away from the Education system for a few years, but was previously a Grade 1/2 teacher for 13 years and a Reading Recovery teacher.
I realize the way Literacy is being taught is different than how I used to teach it. I’m considering using UFLI as a structure.
Does anyone have any tips for the following:
-assessments
-decodable resources
-tutoring structure
-suggestions for further literacy training

I’m trying to help a friend who is an EA in Ontario. She said that they do not have a union for EAs where she lives…
Does anyone know the rights of an EA who has worked at a school for three years and has now been told that she is being moved to high school in the Fall.
Does she have rights to refuse this move or to ask to have her previous job back in the classroom
(she was a classroom EA and then had done certification at the school to become an Autism Support Worker)?

I’m interested in doing some tutoring for students in Grade 1-3. I’m moving soon to Ontario from Manitoba and realize that MB is a bit behind in terms of literacy teaching.

Has anyone had a GoFundMe created for them while going through cancer?
If so, what emotions did you experience receiving help? Did it also make you feel nervous about spending money afterwards, worries about judgement?
For example, I will be needing a new car soon as it is over 12 years old and constantly in need of repairs. I will NOT use any GFM funds to purchase a car, but it makes me nervous to wonder if ppl will think that I did? The GFM was in March and I’ll likely need to purchase a car in Sept or Oct.
I’m INCREDIBLY grateful for the support- it is a HUGE relief and the outpouring of love for myself and my family had been overwhelming in the most emotional of ways.
