2 weeks since adopting from the humane society

It’s been two weeks since I have adopted laddie from my local Humane Society. He was a owner surrender. From what I know his owner was elderly and could no longer take care of him. He’s six years old and my first collie I’ve ever owned. Today, I took him out to Lowe’s for the first time and I’ve been working on training at home. He was fabulous. He listened to all of my commands, which was basic heel, sit, lay down, and stay. He even laid down when I was having some conversations with other patrons that were passing by that were admiring him. I don’t think he’s trained as a service animal, but he seems like he knows enough to be trained as one. However, I was very proud of him and I on our little outing and I’m excited to continue our little training sessions out in public. He already seems to be such a good member of society with great manners. He received lots of compliments not just on his looks but also his training.

Adopted from the shelter & now has kennel cough

Just adopted my guy from the shelter this past weekend. He’s six years old and was an owner surrender. His past owner had him since he was a puppy and obviously was well taken care of since he came with all his vet records & akc registration too. When I met him in the shelter he was a happy go lucky guy. Just happy to be there. He was only in the shelter for a week before I adopted him. Once I brought him home that evening I noticed he was coughing a little after lightly pulling in his leash, then he puked white foam later in the evening and had a runny nose. He would take treats from my hand but didn’t touch his food, still drinking and going pee just fine but I chalked it up to stress and decompressing. Then the next day Sunday same thing but the cough was gone and he has a worse runny nose with green snot. He pants and drools a lot which I know is not common in this breed (stress and anxiety). Finally called the shelter today now that they are open to let them know and they had me come back with him and kept him in the car and met us outside at my vehicle so they could assess him. And my suspicion was correct….it’s kennel cough! 😩 thankfully they sent us home with meds and told me to boil him some chicken rice and chicken broth. He finally ate a piece of cheese for me today (his meds were in it. Don’t tell him 🤫) . He did eat some pieces of chicken and broth but not much. I didn’t think that we’d start our adoption journey like this but it’s only up from here I guess. I just feel awful that not only is he going through a huge transition but also sick at the same time. Here’s a picture of my new best friend laddie.

Built three Cavalletti for under $60

I’m just so excited that I don’t really have too many people to share this with because they don’t understand how proud I am that I built three Cavalletti jumps today. By myself for under $60 and I used power tools for the first time by myself thanks to YouTube university. I can’t wait to use them with my horses. I used 12 pressure treated 2x4s. It took me 2.5 hours to finish.

Whoa shoulders and arms 😳

I only work out upper body once a week although I am very active on my daily. For reference, I am 5‘2. I have naturally have wide shoulders as is. It’s not my favorite body part to work out, but in order to have balance, I do it once a week and I always feel like my upper body grows so much faster than my lower half. But I’m proud of what I’ve built so far.

34 yrs old 5,2 129lbs body recomp

I’ve been on a body recomp journey over the last month. Starting weight at 133. I’m a mom of four and I’m almost 35 years old. After having my fourth baby, I tried to get back into the gym and do a recomp, but my body was really struggling and holding onto all of that extra weight. However, I was not taking my deficit seriously then. But I recently took my deficit/diet more seriously and I’m on a 1,300 cal deficit. I weight lift heavy 5 days a week, trail ride (horses) once a week and get my steps in everyday. Normally, I don’t like to post progress photos within weeks of each other, especially two weeks of each other, but I decided to just go for it and I’m glad I did. I still have a ton of work to do though. I once was in the best shape of my life after having my first two kids and I’d love to get back to that or something like it. This just makes me excited to see what I can do in two months.
