more customization for the Clock + Calendar + Weather widget

Hi Smart Launcher team,

I’d like to suggest two small but useful customization options for the combined Clock + Calendar + Weather widget.

1. Let us choose the weather provider

The weather provider seems to be fixed for this widget. It would be great to have a setting allowing users to choose the provider (for example AccuWeather, OpenWeather, Google Weather, etc.), as different providers can give significantly different results depending on the location.

I know the standalone Weather Widget has different options, but I’m specifically talking about the combined Clock + Calendar + Weather widget.

2. Make the “next event” actually relevant

The widget currently shows the next event in the calendar, regardless of how far away it is.

For example, if I have nothing today, nothing tomorrow and an event next week : the widget will show next week’s event.

It would be much more useful to have an event horizon / relevance window, for example:

Next event / Today / Today + tomorrow / Next 24/48/72 hours / Custom number of days

An option to ignore all-day events would also be useful, since an all-day event can otherwise take precedence over a more relevant timed event later in the day.

I really like the simplicity of this widget, so I’d rather keep using it than replace it with a third-party widget. These two options would make it considerably more useful.

Both feel like natural, incremental improvements to a widget that's already really solid. I know there were a few messages about them, but I'm curious if others would find these useful too : upvote/comment if so!

Thanks!

My Pixel 6 has swollen :(

The eclipse finally did a number on the battery health of my trusty, faithful Pixel 6.

Jokes aside, after four years of sterling, trouble-free service, it seems to have succumbed to the wear and tear of charging cycles and is now starting to look like a cushion.

I didn't even try plugging it back in; it quietly shut down overnight, dropping from 75% to 0%. RIP.

Its replacement is a brand-new Pixel 10, bought in a bundle with a Fitbit Air for under €650 (at Boulanger, if you're interested).

The settings still need fine-tuning, and at first glance, the zoomed-in photos taken indoors aren't all that impressive (the P6 photos were taken with the P10 using 5x optical zoom, and they aren't particularly sharp). It remains to be seen how things go as I get to grips with the device's new features.

[Android 17] Should DND go off while screen off (or phone locked on lockscreen) ?

Hi all,

I just received the Android 17 update on my Pixel 6, and the "Do Not Disturb" -> "Allow all" action (meaning I want to turn off DND mode) is no longer working correctly.

Previously, it worked fine regardless of whether the screen was locked or unlocked, on or off. Since Android 17, it seems to only work if the screen is on.

I can trigger the action manually, and it works. However, it fails to work when triggered on a schedule while the screen is off.

Do you know if there is a new Android restriction?

Thanks for your help.
