Concise list of recommended 4k gaming monitors

Noticed there are a lot of posts looking for 4k monitors. My advice is not to sweat differences between 144hz, 165hz etc. 240 hz is a bigger deal but even then, make sure you have the hardware to take advantage of that. For photo editing/productivity, high refresh rate can help with eye strain a little, but definitely better to prioritize color accuracy in those cases. 4k is best at 32" and above. 27"/28" is acceptable too.

» ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM – 27", 4K, QD‑OLED, 240 Hz. Flagship 4K gaming monitor with DP 2.1, KVM and superb HDR; suffers VRR flicker and high price.

» Alienware AW2725Q – 27", 4K, QD‑OLED, 240 Hz. Nearly as good as PG27UCDM but lacks DP 2.1/KVM. Alienware build quality is typically better than ASUS or LG. HDR isn’t as good as the PG27UCDM but still better than most monitors,.

» Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 S32BG85 – 32", 4K, VA Mini‑LED, 240 Hz. Bright HDR with 1000R curve and 240 Hz; VRR flicker. Good combination of great contrast. If you’re looking for a curved monitor, this is the way to go.

» KOORUI S2741LM – 27", 4K, IPS Mini‑LED, 160 Hz (320 Hz 1080p). Budget mini‑LED with dual‑mode refresh; local dimming helps HDR but there’s black crush and blur.

» Acer Nitro XV275K P3 – 27", 4K, IPS Mini‑LED, 160 Hz. 1152‑zone FALD with good HDR and wide colour; high input lag at low refresh and some mild blooming but still way better for contrast than regular IPS.

» Gigabyte M32U – 32", 4K, IPS, 144 Hz. HDMI 2.1, KVM and low input lag make this a great mid-range 4K option; contrast and HDR are typical of IPS monitors. This monitor is a few years old but still holds great value. There is a 28” version if you prefer the sharpness of a 4k 28” monitor.. It’s also a bit cheaper.

» Dell G3223Q – 32", 4K, IPS, 144 Hz. Solid 4K 144 Hz gaming monitor with HDMI 2.1 and quick response; HDR performance is typical for an IPS monitor. Pretty solid pick for this category.

» Cooler Master Tempest GP27U – 27", 4K, IPS Mini‑LED, 160 Hz. 576‑zone mini‑LED offers impressive HDR and 160 Hz refresh; requires calibration and has some colour washout. Also, cooler master isn’t particularly known for monitors so may be something to watch out for

Let me know if you have any thoughts or other considerations. I tried to make this list as accurate as possible. There may be a few typos or errors. Now reading through this I noticed I did not add too many budget options. Oops sorry. Will update in the future.
