What IPS monitor should I go for with a 5080 9800X3D?

Hi,

I recently upgraded my PC specs, and I am looking to get a new monitor.

I will use this monitor for both work (coding), browsing, media and gaming (I occasionally play both competitive shooters and chill single player games). Essentially just about everything.

I have only one hard requirement, it has to be a 27''. It can be either 1440p or 4k. Not OLED for now. This is a monitor I will be using daily for many years.

In terms of budget, I want to stay within anywhere from £200-£500 ($270-$670).

What monitors do you recommend?

Best 4K gaming monitor right now that actually feels worth the upgrade?

been debating upgrading to a 4k monitor for months now but wow monitor shopping is exhausting

every review is just people arguing about oled burn-in, refresh rates, hdr, ips glow, mini led… my brain is cooked lol

mainly gaming + watching stuff, so i want something that actually LOOKS amazing and not just good on paper

what 4k gaming monitor impressed you the most??

Monitor advice for my new build

I'm going to build a new all white pc with the following specs. Ryzen 5 9600x, 16gb ddr5 6000mhz and a RX 9070 XT. My current build is an Ryzen 5 5600 and a RX 6650 XT and only ever played on 1080p.

The only thing i'm still not sure about is the monitor. I do know that I want a Philips Evnia monitor but I'm not sure which one. I'm considering one of these.

- Evnia 34M2C5501A (34 inch WQHD 1440p curved 180hz) 269 euros
- Evnia 27M2N5901A (27 inch 4K UHD 2160p - 4K 160hz and 320hz 1080p) 299 euros
- Evnia 27M2N6501L (27 inch QD-OLED 1440p 240hz) 389 euros

I will mainly play online shooters and occasionally some singleplayer games.
Is a cheaper one a better option and put the remaining amount of money into 32gb RAM or is 16 gb enough and go for a QD-OLED?

For me every step will be an insane one based on what I am used of today, but it also makes it more difficult to make a decision.

1440p IPS MiniLED or 4k on 27 inch monitor?

Hi everyone, I am having a hard time deciding between monitors: I will have a 9800x3d CPU and 9070xt GPU and am looking to game, more leaning towards singleplayer games, but also be able to do productive stuff on it as well. I have decided that I want an IPS Monitor, but cannot decide between getting a 4k 27´´ IPS or an IPS 2k mini LED (Xiaomi G Pro 27Qi 2026).

OLED does not seem worth it for me for reasons of cost and conscience, I don't want to worry about harming the monitor while using it.

At 4k, I am afraid that I won't reach high FPS numbers, especially in games that will be released in a couple of years (since I want to futureproof my system to a certain extent), but what I read on reddit so far regarding 4k seems like it could be worth it. But I would also love the deep blacks that miniLED provides since my room is fairly dark and good contrast would definitely make the games I am looking to play better, does 4k outweigh this advantage? And if 4k, are there particular models you can recommend? I am grateful for any thoughts on this!

FYI: My viewing distance is around 70-75cm, so with 2k I would reach a PPD of around 60, and with 4k above 80 if that helps.

Gaming monitor 165hz 24 inches

I'm looking for a small monitor with 165hz (or higher but I need to set it to 165hz) . It should be 24 inches or if there isn't a good one can also be 27 inches. Idk what else is really needed for a good experience. I'm gonna use it as a main monitor so it should look good.

Looking for an affordable 1440p Monitor!

Hello, I appreciate anyone taking the time to get back to me on this, it won't be a very long post but I'll see what I can put here about what I'm after.

I'm on a RX 9070XT and Ryzen 5 9600x build, relatively recent and I'm still on a 1080p monitor, it's decent but I finally want to get good value from my PC whilst keeping good performance but better clarity and what not.

When it comes to actual gaming I play both singleplayer games and multiplayer games, some examples like; Resident Evil franchise, TLOU2, Dead by Daylight, Battlefront 2 etc etc. I've just been looking for hours and hours on end and can't really come down to a conclusion between VA, IPS or even Mini LED. I'm not interested in OLED much and my budget is £150-£300. Cheers.

seeking: 24 inch, 1920x1080p ips monitor with reasonable build quality that uses displayport for about $200.

hello!

thank you for taking the time to read my post.

i am very confused by the monitor market [there's too many of them.]

i am in the market for small [for this day and age] monitor. specifically, ~24 inches that should be able to comfortably do 1920x1080 [by which i mean that things shouldn't be ant-sized :)] - i'm willing to spend up to about $200 [and i imagine i might be persuaded to spend a little more if something higher quality is suggested].

some of the reason i'm most interested in this form factor is my desk size constraints. anything much larger [say a 27 inch] MIGHT fit, but might also be a space hog.

i've moved to linux and i'm very aware of the hdmi situation there, so i want to shift over to displayport, because that's better supported.

i've had a philips [specifically the 234e for almost as long as that monitor has been alive] and i've really liked it so far [past the intial very blue tint it was factory set at.] - it's been a fine little ips monitor with great color gamut, no ghosting and reasonable reasonable [if low - more on that in a second] refresh rates.

in that vein, i'd like a monitor that will be about as long-lived, which is why i'm after reasonable build quality.

---

some specific things that might be worth knowing about me:

i play games, but mostly slow games. old adventure games [sierra on-line stuff] and rpg's are my comfort zone. from this perspective, anything much past 60fps doesn't bother me much at all. most of the games i play are either old, or very indie.

while i have a rtx card on this machine, it is there mainly because i simply can't buy cards without that feature anymore. as such, i am interested in trying [but likely won't sit through] SOME faster games: cyberpunk 2077, indiana jones and the great circle and doom: the dark ages are the things i'm most interested in, and i don't t hink any of those games will utterly require refresh rates much past 60fps.

i would be good with sticking to ips. i had a tn monitor prior to that, and the colour difference between it and ips was day and night and i simply cannot go back.

one final thing: i'm visually impaired. some of the reason i'm holding on [for dear life] to 1920x1080, is because it's comfortable to read [often once i set some sort of scaling at the operating system level.]

bigger jumps in resolution just result in tinier text and i'm just not interested in going there until i'm forced. [in much the same way i was slowly nudged from 800x600 to 1920x1080.]

lastly: i'm in a very weird part of the world.

i have access to many of the usual suspects re: monitor makers, but i might not be able to get absolutely every version of every monitor.

that said, the short list of folks who do business here are: acer, asus, alienware, dell, lg, msi, philips [as previously mentioned] and samsung.

after that, it's a bunch of folks i don't necessarily recognize [i'm uneducated when it comes to who does good monitors, so...] - eg: xiaomi, rogueware, etc.

---

thank you very much for taking the time to read this post. i am very grateful to those of you taking the time to respond to queries like mine.

What's the best affordable monitor for gaming and work?

Hello guys, I have decided to create my own desk setup starting with the basics like a good monitor, mechanical keyboard and a nice speaker. I have been looking at different monitors on Alibaba and Amazon but have yet to decide on a specific one, hence the reason for my post. I will be using the monitor primarily for playing Elden ring, pubg and some online GTA and casual ea fc. I will occasionally use it for work purposes. I would like a monitor that provides a very high refresh rate as well as a 2k resolution at least.

The size of the screen should be at least twenty seven inches but I am flexible on this aspect. I prefer curved displays as they feel more immersive and would lean towards that over a flat one. The monitor should be sleek and light for aesthetics and because my desk isn't that big and I don't want a lot of weight on it.Looking forward to insights on how to go about choosing one.

Need help finding new 27" IPS 1440p

Main MSI monitor (G274QPX) is starting to die after just 2 years of regular use. My budget is $150 to $200 usd max. This will mainly be used as a side monitor but still want it to be good enough to serve as a main in case main dies again. Skeptical of going MSI as I hear the vertical/horizontal lines are a common issue with them. Biggest factor in my search is reliabilty for this 2nd monitor.

What to consider for large monitors?

I am looking into upgrading my setup for the first time in like 7 years and need some advice on monitors.

I like big screens. I’m currently using an older 4K 32in Samsung that wasn’t built for gaming, so it doesn’t have good fps, just good picture quality. My current computer is also a laptop, so I’ve been using it for my second screen, but since I’m upgrading to an actual desktop I will be wanting a new main monitor, and my 32in can turn into my second screen.

So I’m looking for advice on what to look for in a new monitor. I want something similarly sized. I mostly play strategy and city building games, so having a large screen with high resolution is kind of my priority as that benefits those games the most for me.

I’m not a huge fan of curved screens, but I might be willing to try one out. It seems like I would have to pay a premium for flat screens at that size right now.

My potential new build (haven’t actually pulled the trigger yet) will either have:

7800x3d and 5070ti combo or

9800x3d and 5080 combo

Given those details, what type of monitor specs should I be looking for? What will take the best advantage of the computer specs for those types of games? Any other considerations about panel types, resolutions, or frame rates?

Just finished a build around a 9800X3D and RTX 5070 Ti. Work remotely for about 16 hours a day so screen real estate honestly matters more to me than chasing high refresh rates.

I mostly play Total War, Shogun 2, Rome II, Three Kingdoms, and the rest of the series. On the FPS side I still play Fortnite here and there, clocked hundreds of hours in Apex a few years back, dabbled in Valorant and Marvel Rivals. FPS is not really my thing anymore though, barely have time and when I do sit down strategy is just way more satisfying after a long work day.

Really looking forward to Total War: Warhammer 40k, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, and Dawn of War IV. Also planning to grab Helldivers II and Warhammer 40k: Space Marine II when they go on sale.

Here is where I am coming from with monitors:

  • AOC G2590PX — 25 inch, 144Hz, 1ms, FreeSync. It is on a monitor arm now which I just got recently and honestly it is one of the best things I have done for my desk setup, so much freed up space. This one is VESA compatible so no issues there.
  • N-Vision — 27 inch, 60Hz, no sync, nothing. The most basic monitor you can imagine. The stand is fixed too, you cannot even remove it, which means no monitor arm for this one. I actually had to buy a separate PC tabletop riser just to get it to a decent height because it angles downward otherwise. It is functional but it is a pain. Haha.

So right now I am on a dual setup with both of them. Neither of them are doing justice to an RTX 5070 Ti and 9800X3D. That is the honest situation.

I am leaning toward 32 to 34 inches mostly because of work, 16 hours a day in front of a screen means more real estate would genuinely help. But I am also open to being told a really good 27 inch is the smarter call if the value argument is there. Not married to a size, just want the right answer.

Budget wise, just going to be upfront since I know someone will ask. I just upgraded my whole PC so funds are tight right now. I would rather not go past PHP 50,000 (~$800 USD) on a monitor. That said if someone recommends something slightly above that and the value genuinely makes sense for what I described, I am willing to save a few extra months and just get the right one. I am staring at this thing for 16 hours a day so I do not want to cheap out, but I also need to be realistic about where I am right now. Drop your recommendation and if it goes a bit over, tell me why it is worth it and I will consider it.

Should i upgrade my 1080p VA monitor to a 1440p miniled HVA monitor?

I've had the AOC g2490vx for a while now and I saw the KTC m27t6 for around 220$ dollars. I'm unsure if its worth it or not. My GPU is a 9060xt and I usually play games on my pc. My budget is really tight and there arent any other miniled monitors at this price range

Confused between LG 27GS75Q and MSI G274QPF E2 for 1440p Gaming & Editing. Need advice!

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to buy a 27-inch 1440p monitor to use as an external display with my Asus TUF Gaming F17 laptop (FX706HC). I’m also planning a new PC build soon for gaming, streaming, and content creation, so I need this monitor to easily handle that transition.

After a lot of research, I’ve narrowed it down to two final choices:

LG 27GS75Q (180Hz, overclocks to 200Hz, 1ms GtG, 99% sRGB, 300 nits)

Amazon Link: https://amzn.in/d/0bePUQIs

MSI G274QPF E2 (180Hz, 1ms, 119% sRGB / 94% Adobe RGB, 400 nits, USB-C)

Amazon Link: https://amzn.in/d/0gkP2B8C

I'm genuinely stuck between the two. My main goal is to get a great visual experience with high FPS for gaming, but I also need accurate colors because I edit 2K videos in Premiere Pro as I am a small steamer and make videos on youtube.

My Use Case:

Story/AAA Games: God of War, Batman Arkham series, Detroit: Become Human.

Visually Heavy Gacha: Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail.

Casual FPS: Valorant, Marvel Rivals.

My priority order is basically: Display Quality > FPS > Colors > Aftersales Service.

The Big Dilemma (Colors vs. Aftersales):

I know the MSI has a much better color gamut and gets brighter, which is a big plus for my editing workflow and the visually heavy games I play. However, brand reputation and RMA experience are also major factors for me.

Here is the catch: An authorized LG service center is super close to where I live, making any potential RMA incredibly easy. The MSI service center, on the other hand, is quite far away. I really don't want to deal with the headache of dragging a huge monitor box across town if I lose the panel lottery or something breaks down the line.

Has anyone used either of these long-term? Is the extra color accuracy and brightness on the MSI really worth the risk of a far-away service center, or should I just play it safe with the LG since it has great motion handling and solid local warranty support?

Any insights or personal experiences would be super helpful.

Let me know if you need more info about my setup to give a recommendation!
