manga creation questions
Its been a dream of mine to make manga for a long time now, and I believe I have a worthy enough story to make a manga. But I don't have the art skills yet. And the only connection I have to Japan is being born there, but I live in America and I'm not Asian what so ever as far as I'm aware.
- Can non-asian people make manga? or is that like a taboo or something.
as I said, the only way as far as I'm aware of my connection to Asia is that I was born there and moved a few months later to the states.
- What exactly is the manga art style?
like, It might just be a me thing, but I can look at something and tell if its a western comic or a eastern comic. So like, what are the foundations of it? whats the key aspects, Is it just how characters are drawn? how the backgrounds look? how effects and stuff are drawn? the overall vibe of it? I don't know. And I know many manga have incredibly unique art styles. But like they all share something in common and I don't know if its like because there is a specific way they are taught (like how in some kids shows, they have a bean mouth. the bean mouth effect ig).
- How should I publish it?
I don't really have plans to go to japan anytime soon (I'm still a minor and poor lol) so I doubt I'm getting put in Shonen Jump. So where should I publish it? I heard webtoons was a good place but It just seems fishy.
- What order should I write it?
Like, should I write in English first then translate it over to Japanese or write it in Japanese first then translate it over to English? I'm learning Japanese in my free time and not expecting to start drawing this until I know the basics and can draw better. But what would be best?
- How should I write it?
Like, should I try and implement more Asian things into the story through character names, abilities, place names. That kinda thing. Or should I just go with what I know
TLDR; I need to know If I as an American can make manga, What the manga art style fundamentals really are, How do i publish it, And how should I write it?
