Barber Chair Oak Removal; How'd I Do?

I do maintenance for our neighbors, and recently an enormous old oak came down. Easily a century old and dead for 10+ years, the roots rotted out and the inevitable occurred. On the way, it took out a little 8 incher nearby, but not all the way. Enough to bend it at a 90 degree angle and load it up pretty good. It's not the best pic, but you can see it arching over the top of the big guy in the first picture, and the already broken pieces sticking up.

I sawed through the horizontal portion first, with a long ass Temu pole saw (there's a link to that video at the bottom). I figured it was best to have less weight trying to kill me when I did finally have to drop it. Around 1:30 you can hear me say "You fuckin' undercut it then" because I'm getting cheesed off about my saw pinching in the cut, and the voice in my head was saying "If you had undercut it, it wouldn't pinch so much" . Hopefully I'm not the only one that gets in mental arguments with themselves.

The second pic is an ugly face cut I made with the saw as far away from my body as was safe, and the last pic is what it looked like after it was cut through. You can see the fracture lines where it was splitting up the length of the trunk. I made my final back cut with a bow saw, going slow so that I cut the triggers one by one, releasing the tension a little at a time. Stuff can still go wrong with a bow saw, but it goes wrong a lot more slowly.

Anyway, it's down, I'm not dead, and I just have to clean up the rest of the pieces tomorrow.

So Much Hen Of The Wood!

Got these yesterday, along with a 25 pound COTW that I already posted. There's 40+ pounds in just the last 2 pics. I would have posted yesterday, but I've been cleaning, roasting, making stock, and dehydrating like a madman since I got back from the woods. I'm gonna have literal gallons of beautiful mushroom stock laid up for winter, in addition to heaps of really nice dried HOTW.

I didn't pick the little guys in the first picture, but I may go back for them tomorrow if I have time. The should have grown well since yesterday.

Got these at the dump yesterday. What do I have?

I'm an absolute newb when it comes to Halloween decorations, but I do have some experience with antiques, art, and ephemera. My quick google search is able to identify a good amount of Beistle stuff, but I can't find exact examples of the headbands except the cat.

If anybody has experience with this kind of stuff, and/or info and sites they can share I'd love to hear about it. Any tips on value would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance to all, and Happy Halloween!

Hookaroon ID Help Please!

Trying to figure out the original purpose of this hookaroon. The pick side is longer than makes sense for wood, and the poll is pointed so it's be useless to drive wedges or nails with.

OAL is 33.5, head is 9", and from the tip of the ears to the top of the head is 2.625". Handle looks original, and the "double bit" style eye with twin metal wedges is interesting. I can't tell if the paint is original or not.

My guess is that it was used to harvest ice, and that the poll side is for scoring blocks to be broken, sort of like how granite is cut. Pick is long to sink deeper and give more grip on the ice, but I'm just spit-balling.

If anyone knows the true use, maker, age, or anything else, chime in! For context, it was found in Mid Coast Maine. TIA for any help.

What's My Possible Liability?

LOCATION: Maine.

I have a buddy who wants to use an undeveloped lot I own as his physical address for car insurance. If he gets in an accident, what's my possible liability?

Basically, he moved for work and needs to have a physical address for his car insurance or he can't renew (according to him). My lot is not, and likely never has been, a residence. He doesn't have an apartment yet, and is car camping for the moment.

I'm likely going to tell him "No" to avoid complicity, but I also don't understand why he doesn't just pick a street and number. I don't have a mailbox, and he can't get mail there, so why not just fill out the form as "Joe Schmo, 10 Main Street, Anytown, USA, 12345" then get his mail sent to a PO box?

Aside from the initial question, what would you guys do in his situation?

Help Dating Some Andirons?

First time posting here IIRC, previous lurker though. I came across a marvelous pair of firedogs the other day, and I was wondering if anybody has sufficient knowledge to help me determine roughly when they were made?

They were found in Maine, and seem to be pretty early given the quality of the forge welds (possibly made on charcoal vs coal?), and the spit-hooks on them. I'm not an expert, but spit hooks don't seem to be as common on American andirons as English/British andirons. All riveted and peened construction obviously.

I'm thinking/hoping 1700's, but I'm obviously biased. If I had to narrow it down, I would say 1770-1780. It could just be work from a remote country smith who couldn't get coal easily. Anyway, what does everyone think?
