First time visiting Malaysia with my family — looking for advice on renting a car 🚗🇲🇾

This will be my first trip to Malaysia with my family, and we’re planning to stay for around 10 days. We’ll be traveling with our young child, so I’m considering renting a car for the whole trip rather than relying only on Grab/public transport.
I’d really appreciate some advice from Malaysians or people who have recently rented a car:
Which car rental companies would you recommend and which ones should I avoid?
Is it better to rent directly from the airport or from a rental company in Kuala Lumpur?
What car would you recommend for a family of 3 with luggage for 10 days? I’m thinking something comfortable like a Toyota Innova, Perodua Alza, Proton X70, or similar.
Roughly how much should I expect to pay for 10 days of rental?
Is insurance normally included, or should I buy additional coverage?
Any hidden charges I should watch out for (deposit, mileage limits, tolls, airport fees, etc.)?
And finally, is renting a car actually worth it in Malaysia, especially if we’re planning to travel outside Kuala Lumpur?
