Night ratios/rounds

How long do your guys rounds take you? I’ve been an aid for about a year, and I’m trying night shift for the first time, and I feel like I’m slower than others at bed checks. I don’t really cut corners (aids changing residents without wiping them), but idk if I’m gonna be able to complete rounds. 32 residents to just me and a nurse + 12-15 check and changes per night. Also, what are your night ratios bc 32 feels overwhelming

I miss my old facility

I just started at a nursing home that is 5 minutes from me and pays 20/hr. My old job was 30 minutes away and payed almost 16. Seems like it would be worth it but it’s not. My old facility was ALWAYS stocked. Always had wipes, pull ups, briefs, pads, etc. The good wipes that are twice the size of ur hands, and the briefs that you had to
TRY if u wanted to rip them. There was 3 units, the main unit (ltc/rehab) with 4 halls, a dementia lockdown unit, and an AL. I never had more than 10 cares in one night- typically I had less (sometimes as little as 5). Night shifters never have more than 20, and around 9 bed checks. Showers were in every room and the bathrooms were very big. Probably a total of 4 hoyers/lifts in the whole facility, and the hoyers are the nice new ones that are smooth and fully remote operated. I just started at a new facility and they don’t even have wipes. They use toilet paper on everyone, with the occasional wash rag. They said they got rid of wipes because people kept flushing them but idk. They don’t pass linens, so some of these people go days without being washed, and even more if they refuse a shower. The halls are 32 to 3 during the day, and 32 to 1 at night. Im still training and have seen multiple people be left soaking, and watched aids change residents without wiping them. They have a shower room that has gunk stuck to the walls and floor, and only have 1 working shower out of 3. They don’t have bari sheets so bariatric residents just sleep on a loose sheet (majority of the residents are bari). Their hoyers are ancient, and they only have one even though there are like 6 lifts per unit. The briefs they do have rip if you breathe on them the wrong way, and half the time they are out of the size you need. There is also no dementia unit, so many of them are not in an environment that is beneficial for them, and it also makes it hard on aids to assist that many residents on top of behaviors. I knew I had it good at my old facility but I didn’t realize i was living luxury 🥲🥲🥲

I got fired, probably?

I am still in disbelief tbh. I work/worked at an amazing facility that I love so much, and have residents that I absolutely adore. Mid June I put in my two weeks because I was starting another job closer to me (5 mins as opposed to 25) that payed more (16 vs 21/hr). However, around a week after that I decided that I would go PRN because they asked me to stay for a pay increase, and I wanted a net just in case my new job didn’t work out, and everything seemed fine. My last week working before going PRN (mon-fri) I had to call off every single day because I dislocated my knee and could hardly walk. I had a doctors note that cleared me for all the days I missed, however I still pointed out(I think) because of days I had missed due to a kidney infection last September. However, nobody told me I was being fired. It’s been about 3 weeks now, and I was cleared to work, so I was going to look on our communication app to see what shifts needed picked up, and it said my access was removed, same on our scheduling app. I texted our DON, and she is on vacation so she has no idea. I texted our payroll lady (with many other titles bc we hardly have management) and she has not responded after 2 days, so I am going to call tomorrow. It’s frustrating because my points were literally right about to reset in September, and I had a point buyback THAT WEEK because I picked up a double. Also why would nobody say anything 😭 like nurses literally have accusations of abuse and get to stay, but I get injured and get fired. it’s not that major because I have another job, but I am sad because I genuinely loved working there. Like I never had more than 10 residents in a night (2-10p) and hardly ever more than 8 cares, and people were willing to help. I also love my residents so much, and the thought of not seeing them again makes me so sad. I love and care for those people like they are my own, and I have residents that treat me like I’m their family, and love me as much as I love them. I cannot forget the residents who have told me they loved me, that they are proud of me, and thank me for the care that I give them. I would love to visit 2 of my girls in specific who I have became incredibly close with, but feel like I can’t because of bad terms with the employer.

Should I finish TLOU2

I played the first game like a year ago and loved it, and I saw the 2nd game for cheap at Walmart and was like okay sure. TBH I knew Joel died when I went into the game, however I was not aware it was at the BEGINNING. I thought there would be some huge fight or something at the end of the game where he would die and I was ready for that, so i was so shocking when he died not even 3 hours in. Am I supposed to keep playing??? Like, is it even worth it? I know people don’t like it as much, but is there still redeemable qualities that I should finish the game for? I feel like I’m the target audience as a wlw teenager, so maybe I’ll enjoy it, but ngl I turned the game off after he died, cause whatttt

good apartments?

Hi, I’m struggling to find apartments in Fort Wayne and would like some input because I am not familiar with the area. Me and my bf are looking for a 1 bedroom, in unit laundry, and cat friendly apartment. We want to stay close to PFW because he will be there daily. I don’t mind if its a little dated, but my BIGGEST fear is roaches/bugs, I have grown up in a home with bugs and I have had enough. please share good and bad experiences, I need all the advice I can get as a first time renter. :)

Where to Start?

I am 18 years old and have pretty much zero knowledge on investing/stocks/trading etc. I’ve never been taught anything and am having a hard time figuring out where to start learning. Each time I try to figure out what something means, it’s defined by 15 more terms that I don’t understand. I feel like everyone who shares advice about investing assumes the watcher/reader has some prior knowledge, but I have none. I don’t know if I’m just dumb or if I’m not looking in the right places for information, but I would really appreciate some guidance. 🙂
