Results after water wash
These are the results after a water wash I did recently on a really awful batch I got. Before this attempt I tried washing with acetone. But the amount of what I suspected to be caffeine didn't seem to decrease. So after about five washes I tried doing a fractional recrystallization and this is what came out of it. I suspect the crystal like structure that has formed on the bottom is caffeine. It is quite sticky which could be remaining water. What surprises me is that the leftovers produce a minor smell similar to what the batch did prior to any acetone washing. I can only describe it as a rancid or pungent odor, not like the flower smell I have dealt with before.
Anyone have any idea of what this could be?
