First-time buyer: Rizta S + Pro Pack + 8-Yr Warranty quote check & accessory advice (Kolkata/Family use)
Hey everyone,
I am planning to buy my very first scooter and have pretty much decided on the Ather Rizta S (2.9 kWh). I intend to configure it with the AtherStack Pro pack and the 8-year extended battery warranty.
Before I hit the book button and head to the showroom here in Kolkata, I wanted to get some real-world feedback from current owners and the community.
My Use Case:
Commute: Strictly a fixed route of about 20–30 km daily. I will almost rarely/never use it for long highway rides.
Primary Purpose: A pure family workhorse. Mostly daily market runs, grocery shopping, and casual evening strolling with my 2-year-old kid (who will be standing/sitting in the front floorboard area).
Price Check:
This is the official online summary quote I am getting on the portal right now:
Eff. Ex-Showroom Price: ₹1,36,469 (Includes ₹8,999 in total benefits like PM E-Drive, etc.)
Insurance (approx): + ₹6,884
Road tax & registration: + ₹7,040
Total On-road Price: ₹1,50,393
Does this on-road pricing look correct for those who recently bought it in West Bengal? Are there any hidden showroom discounts, corporate offers, or RTO road tax waivers that I should aggressively negotiate when I visit the Ather Space in person? Can I opt out of their insurance and source it externally to save a bit?
Questions on Accessories & Customizations:
Since this is my first scooter, I starting from scratch and don't even own a helmet yet.
Given that my kid will be standing in the front, which official accessories are absolute lifesavers? I'm eyeing the floor mat, the backrest, and the external wrap-around guard (BodyGuard).
Is the front "Frunk" bag worth it, or does it take away too much legroom for a toddler standing in the front?
Regarding helmets: I need to buy two adult helmets and one for my kid. Is the premium for the Ather Halo smart helmet worth it for simple daily commutes, or should I just stick to the standard full-face ones available in their store?
What should I be cautious about?
Since the Rizta is a relatively new platform compared to the 450 series, what are the current red flags or teething issues? I've read scattered reports about software lag, belt noise during rains, or specific batch issues like handlebar pulling.
How is the after-sales service experience at the Kolkata service centers if any software or mechanical glitches pop up?
Would love to hear your inputs before I sign the dotted line. Thanks in advance!
