Does anyone know if the manoeuvre Braking/auto braking in reverse is disabled when you're connected to hitch electrics?

I am using a hitch tray/carrier and it keeps setting off the braking even thought there's nothing behind. Considering adding trailer lights to the tray, partly so I can stack taller and block the lights, but if it stops the braking it's a win-win.
