Making my questions easier?

I've hosted trivia 3x now. I'll admit one week I did make the questions too hard but the last time I hosted I felt rather good about them. (I frequently play too). Right now I only get about 15 people playing, so like 3-4 teams. I feel like I should make my questions easier as two of the teams scored in the 20s out of 54 and two other teams got 37 and 38 respectively. I just don't quite know HOW to make the questions easier without it being laughable.

I try to make my questions a mix of generations, as a mid 30s millenial I get tired of all the trivia questions being from the 80s so I incorporate 2010s 2000s, 90s, and 80s, and some 70s.

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Edit: Reading through the feedback it seems I may need more footholds as you all call them.

Some of my more recent questions I had were , What rifle, known for its distinctive ping sound, was the standard U.S. Issue during World War II?

The drink Kefir is traditionally fermented from what?

The Reinheitsgebot allows for only water, barley, yeast and what to be in beer?

Carbon Dioxide is one of the primary byproducts of yeast eating sugars in an anaerobic environment, what is the second?

(Fermented foods was one of my categories)

What Teenage Frankenstein sang the 1986 song, “He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask)”, the theme for Friday the 13th Part VI? (This one I did actively TRY to add a foothold on with the Teenage Frankenstein part)
