Anxiety or Something Else?

My anxiety and gut have been tied 20 years since symptoms started. But it's been very manageable these past few years. So much so I'd say the worst was behind me.

I'm still an anxious nut, but the gut stuff has gotten better.

Yesterday evening heavy diarrhea started and hasn't cleared up yet as I write this.

No others symptoms to speak of. No fever. Still have an appetite. Only mild stomach upset right before I have to go.

It feels like tbe old days in a bad way. Am wondering if it's actually so.e kind of infection or illness now though. Butthe lack of other symptoms makes me believe it's a random flare up.

*Sigh*

I just wish the ecosystem around films, fandom, Hollywood, etc could ever be normal. Ever.

The discourse around the DCU was annoying from the jump for various reasons. But what I'm talking about specifically is the new trend of people posting videos, comments, etc about how "they're losing faith" in the DCU and annoyed they don't see "where it's going" and the "lack of clear trajectory."

Ya'll. YA'LL.

COME. THE. FUCK. ON.

The DCU L I T E R A L L Y just began. We've had two soft entries in Peacemaker and CC. The REAL flagship launch is SUPERMAN. ONE FILM. We've had ONE mainline entry in the franchise so far. O N E. Uno. Singular. GIVE IT SOME FUCKING TIME!

A bunch of impatient nerds can't just let the films be films, can't let the franchise play out for a few years before they knee-jerk with "Omg where is it all going is there even a plan!?" nonsense.

Gunn himself said that the DCU would, at first, focus on more standalone films that just so happen to be part of the same universe - not some synergistic franchise from the jump.

And these people know this. But they're complaining about a "lack of direction" anyway. WHY DOES IT NEED A DIRECTION RIGHT NOW!? Do you really need to know we're getting a new JL film in like, 2030 to enjoy Supergirl or Clayface right now? CHILL!

It's clear that, given how the Supes side of the universe is being laid out first, that the foundation of the DCU on a wider tapestry is being laid out with those films. Do we knew what the overall "story" is culminating towards yet?

NO! And we're not supposed to yet! And Gunn may not know entirely either! I'm sure he has ideas, an outline somewhere - but its way down the road and he'll let us know when he knows.

(And before anyone comes in with a "but the MCU was planned so far ahead" bit of pushback. No it wasn't. Many people have said openly that they were flying by the seat of their pants as they built out the MCU and got lucky. The MCU was never this masterplan fans perpetuate it was).

The MCU really did a number on how perceive and critique not just all superhero media, but blockbusters and franchises in general.

Isn't the DCU so far EXACTLY what people have been saying they want from superhero films and franchise for the past few years? Films and shows that aren't reliant on the gimmick of a shared universe and can just be films and stories unto themselves, more standalone and not burdened by shouldering the gimmick?

Well, here you go. On paper the DCU is the exact antidote ya'll wanted. So far all the projects have been met with largely positive reception. Have your opinions on the films and shows themselves, of course. But give the overall franchise more to time to develop, for the love of god.

Rant over.
