My boyfriend calls me stupid constantly
Hi Reddit this is my first time ever using this app and I don’t know how it works at all except I know I can get advice here and I really need it. So I am a 19 and my boyfriend of 2 years also 19, is always saying how I’m stupid. Now I know I’m not very smart at all I didn’t pay attention in school and barely graduated high school but i did make it and graduated, I’ve also started smoking at a very young age and still smoke to this day which I’m sure doesn’t help. Anyways I can say or ask something that I know myself is something I should probably already know or that most people know and he will get mad at me and say I say stupid things or I need to get myself together it just makes him mad which then leads to me getting very upset because yes I know I’m not smart but someone calling me stupid and all these other mean things make me feel worse about it and gets me really down this happens all the time. For an example earlier today I was telling him about my friend going into the marines and I say I have no idea about any of that stuff like at all and to begin with I feel stupid myself saying that because most people know what this is. Anyway I start asking him what the marines is really about and I say the marines is like military right and he proceeds to get mad at me and say how it’s crazy I don’t know this and it’s something I should already know and he can’t put up with me saying or asking stupid shit all the time. I argue and say yeah I know I’m stupid and should know these things but it makes me feel like shit when the person I love thinks of me that way and that instead of lashing out on me he can simply educate me or just ignore it basically there’s others way to go about it then making me feel worse about myself. So Reddit and I’m in the wrong here I genuinely need to know mind you this is probably one of the stupidest questions I’ve asked it’s usually just something simple and like I said it happens all the time.
