I've played sports my entire life and I'm currently playing football as a junior in high school. I workout 5 days a week at least, eat well, and take my health very seriously. Recently I got the urge to pick up long distance running. Today I went out and ran an 8 and a half minute mile. I have never felt so ashamed. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. Not only was I fairly slow but I was quite exauhsted after as well. I will admit it was completely unoptimized but still. Please recommend me a good starting foundation to this journey. My current goal is to be able to run in a half marathon within 4 months. I am willing to do whatever.
