Uptake results and RAI side effect questions .
After going into remission and relapsing I've been working on getting able to do RAI. I started my preparation from a euthyroid state but no TSH still. Went on a very strict low iodine diet 2 weeks prior to the test and stopped meds a week before. 4 hour uptake 95% and 24 hour was 80%. Was surprised bc I thought the second number should be higher but apparently what I did was called rapid peak. I am wondering what this will mean for the success of my treatment. I was given a dose of 15.
The doctor mentioned I might have to go again which honestly not sure about that. I'm very worried my salivary glands will dry up and I'm wondering if anyone know if my rapid peak situation makes me more or less likely to have that. Also when do the salivary glands start to dry out if they get affected. I'm doing all the things I can to prevent that.
