Does this issue with housekeeping happen to you?
This happened to me multiple times. Whenever I get a 2 pm late check out, housekeeping tries to open my door right after the hotel check out time assuming I have checked out. And, when I get a 4 pm checkout there have been multiple instances where they try to get in (no knocking the door) once after the regular checkout time, and once more after 2 pm even through I've explained to them that I have a 4 pm late checkout.
For context I request late check out to the front desk usually during check in, and will be awarded it right away because of the platinum status. This has happened to me across many Marriott brands. I even told the front desk at the Philadelphia Marriott downtown about the issue at other hotels and to let housekeeping know about my late check out as I had a meeting, but they tried to open the door in the middle of my meeting at 2.15pm and I had to go out and explain to them about the late check out.
I am personally polite to them every time, hoping that it was an accident. I made this post wanting to know if others experience this, and was curious on why it's happening. Does the housekeeping not get an updated list? Or did it happen because of instances where they didn't look into the check out time?
On another note, I was surprised how housekeeping opened my door despite me having the electronic deadbolt on at 12.15 pm when I had a 2 pm checkout. The swing bar saved me though.
