Years ago I wanted to get Enter The Dragon for the collection and found this cool UK set (live in Michigan). Did some research to make sure my player was region free and apparently it was! Got it in and it worked perfectly (photos 2&3). I didn’t buy another Region B (or c) blu-ray till last December when I was in Toronto with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Went to a video store there and found Oldboy, which happened to be the Australian release. Bought it and watched when we got home and it worked perfectly on my player (photos 4&5).
Recently I went to a local Disc Replay and found a copy of Crime Story. Thinking that my player was region free I bought it and went to watch it last night.
When I put the disc in the player a warning screen popped up saying that my player is not compatible with this disc (photo 6). Went to check the region code on the back of my player and sure enough its region A locked, so it makes sense as to why this UK (region b) release of Crime Story doesn’t work on my player.
My question is why the other two region b discs I have work perfectly fine and this one doesn’t? Is there a way to make Crime Story play on this player or would I have to upgrade to an actual region free player?
My current player is a BDP-S1200
This is an insane thing to wake up to
