Thanks to this group for putting me onto Turbine Collector Series 3D blurays

They have some great conversions that aren’t readily availble in the UK so to find that there are other countries like Japan and… Germany? That still show 3D some love is fantastic!

finally tried upgrading to 4K

I had been debating whether I want to upgrade to 4K. So I decided to buy a used Xbox one S and a few 4K discs of movies I liked that were reasonably priced. So far I watched part of 2001 Space Odyssey and Field of Dreams. 2001 is a title often recommended here, but a boring story line IMO. The colors were indeed impressive. Field of Dreams was also very good quality. All in all I would say the picture does show more detail than regular Blurays, but it seems like a small upgrade. Personally I can see having a few 4Ks in my collection, but often times they are 2 or 3 times the price and just doesnt seem worth it. If you shop around for sales and what not, you can find 4Ks for $10-$15. Still Blurays seem to be the best bang for your buck. The picture is still pretty good and has excellent sound. I have bought new Blurays in sets for as low as $4 per movie. If you are on the fence about 4Ks, I suggest borrowing a player or console and getting one disc to try and see what you think. Only you can decide if its worth it.

Are multi-region players legal? If so why don't the big manufacturers make their players such?

Would it destroy their business relationships with all those who produce/distribute films and TV shows?

Otherwise if it's not unlawful what is stopping say Panasonic from making their players multiregion to win customers over from competitors? Competition should lead to this.

I go on Amazon and it appears there are no region-free blu-ray players and only one such DVD player, as if it's a very niche thing with very little demand, the latter being all I needed and was thankfully cheap, small, and very lightweight, but I hope it will last as long as my region 1 DVDs I got it for and that it isn't some shady product.

Recent Arrow haul

My recent Arrow haul. Notable to me is C.H.U.D, which I’ve never seen but back in the Old Days would send a shiver down my spine picking up the VHS box and taking in everything.
It had me paranoid about the shower drain for a while after the first time I encountered it, lol.

English films in non English countries

Hi I’m looking for a database of English/American films that are released in foreign countries specifically I’m in France which has a habit of renaming films so I can cross reference for what I’m searching for. Anyone know of such a resource?

Avatar Fire and Ash finally came

Amazon better late than never but at least it came decently packed so no dings and dents. Love the imagery on it.

Watched Collateral on blu-ray last night and I’m still thinking about it. Is this Tom Cruise’s best movie?

Today's Finds

I found a 3 Disc Set of Harry Potter DH Part 1 in 3D with an amazing 3D Slipcover. This is $40 but I was able to get it for less than $2. What a steal. Also some good special features. What are your thoughts? 🤷‍♂️🤔

What am I missing?

I started collecting with intent about a year ago. I have a long wishlist still but I want to get feedback on what I am missing so I can add them to my list.

Rookie collector here. Bought a lot of 5 Bluray movies, two of them came in these white boxes. Now the disc inside and the artwork seems original (they are both really high quality) but is the box original?

The Burning!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Summer, so I decided to do a viewing of The Burning! Such a classic film with amazing special effects by the master, Tom Savini.
