Buffalo Girls (1995, Drama)

An all star cast charges forward as Calamity Jane (Anjelica Huston) travels during the waning days of the Old West while writing letters to the daughter she gave up after birth. Historically inaccurate, but this two part miniseries is still somewhat amusing with a cast featuring Melanie Griffith, the great Jack Palance, Peter Coyote, Sam Elliott and Reba McEntire as Annie Oakley. 🦂🦂½

Final Justice (1998, Drama)

A woman (Annette O'Toole) whose brother was murdered kidnaps and squares off against the lawyer (Michael McKean) who got the assailant acquitted. An interesting study in how far one will go for justice. An off the wall twist to this is that O'Toole's boyfriend in this is a cop. O'Toole and McKean got married in real life the year after this was released. Pretty well done for a Lifetime Original movie. 🦂🦂🦂

Frankie & Johnny (1991, Comedy)

Johnny (Al Pacino) is a parolee who is feeling the loneliness of being recently released. Frankie (Michelle Pfeiffer) is a waitress jaded by a past abusive relationship. As they chip away each other's layers, they discover a burgeoning romance. Not as overtly funny as Garry Marshall's other recent rom-com Pretty Woman, but is more an example of putting walls up to guard oneself. 🦂🦂¾

The Rounders (1965, Comedy)

Two modern day cowboys (Glenn Ford and Henry Fonda) have comic misadventures as they are hired to break a wild horse. Unable to do so, they scheme to place bets at the local rodeo that nobody can ride him. Probably hilarious by 1965 standards, but tame by today's. In my opinion, the funniest part is the censoring of 2 women's bare bottoms (literally, with black bars with the word censored on them). 🦂🦂½

A failing English travel book store owner (Hugh Grant) meets the most popular American actress (Julia Roberts). After spending time together, they fall in love, but things get complicated when her boyfriend arrives in London. This ends up being like a lot of other Grant rom-coms, with his sputtering nervousness and gleaming smile. 🦂🦂

**SPOILER ALERT**

In the weeks leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor, a recently transferred soldier falls in love with a "waitress" at a sleazy Hawaiian nightclub while staving off punishments from his C.O. for not joining the boxing team. Meanwhile, the outfit's sergeant has an affair with the C.O.'s wife. Pretty good movie and not what I expected as far as plot and character development. The growing relationship between the sergeant and the soldier is interesting. 🦂🦂🦂½

Visited by a stranger who knows his grandmother, a defense attorney for chemical corporations (Mark Ruffalo) discovers a decades long cover-up of toxic leakage into a water source by the DuPont company. Not a bad movie, per se, but too similar to Erin Brockovich for my taste. 🦂🦂½
