10 Days on boat

Packing some media for a 10 day vacation on a boat (motor sail). Partner is taking a 5 day marine diesel class so I’ll have to entertain myself. Not a problem.

I think my very tiny media corner has finally run out of space

Less than a month since my last collection post and it’s gotten a bit crazier since then. I think it’s time for me to find another shelf.

I started collecting DVD's in May. Here's my 2 week progress.

0-68 films owned. All thrifted locally and under $5ea, with the vast majority being $1 a piece.

A Twilight Zone deal 👁

Went to a garage sale and found one of my most sought after treasures, The Complete Collection of the OG Twilight Zone and was brand new, sealed. A buck per disc, 28 bucks? Brand new!? I'm happy.

Does anyone else hate the new style DVD boxset cases companies use now?

I love how the outer box looks on the shelf, but the inside design feels so cheap and awkward. The plastic trays are flimsy, the discs overlap each other, and half the time it feels like you’re going to snap a disc just trying to remove it.

I’ve genuinely thought about taking all the discs out and putting them into plastic wallets in the boxset case , because the packaging itself still looks nice on a shelf.

Older boxsets felt sturdier and way more collector-friendly. These newer ones just seem designed to save money.

Buried Films.

I’m considering starting a collection of ‘buried’ films on DVD. By this I mean already little-known films that have had their obscurity heightened by the release of a significantly more successful film sharing its title.

I know it’s a silly idea, but I just like the idea of having a shelf that all sounds familiar on the spines, but everything pulled out is a different film to what was expected.

These are my dvd buying goals, which films should I add to my list?

Millennial jackpot

The second season of this may be the funniest second season of any series. Day in the Life of Lil John, When Keepin it Real Goes Wrong, Charlie Murphy True Hollywood Stories, etc.

Excited to have almost all of Law and Order SVU, first 3 seasons of Abbott Elementary, and first 5 seasons of the Office. Will be my first watch of the Office as well!
