I have a junior-level position with unusually high salary - but I want to switch jobs. Should I ask for higher salary still?
I'm a junior software engineer with only 1.5 yrs of experience. I'm from the province, and due to a combination of luck and rigor, I have a flex-time WFH job that's earning me 40-70k/month (won't disclose too much, some people I know in real life use Reddit)
I feel like the boat is sinking though, and that I'm going to be laid off any time soon within the next few months, due to corporate politics. I'm not being replied by the boss, my coworkers close to that boss aren't listening to my feedback, etc.
I want to switch to a new job, but I'm not sure if I should ask for a 30% salary bump or keep it as it is. It's harder to find a new job given that I'm from the province, and a lot of layoffs are happening in the tech industry too. It doesn't help that each job posting has 100+ applicants in LinkedIn
I know I can just ask ChatGPT this, but is there anyone else who experienced a similar situation too? How did you deal with this..?
