Advice about earnings

Hi, I’m a new investor and I have no experience with trading around earnings reports. Let’s say I will be up for 20% just before earnings and then once earnings has passed I can see it plummet down, is it a good strategy to then sell and take the profits and then buy back in when the dust settled and it stops plummeting ? Or is this timing the market futile ? My average cost per share is now 965 USD and I am hoping to lower it this way..

MU dip

MU (MTE, European ticker) down almost 4% and still dropping (just like many other stocks like SK Hynix). Is it cuz of the mango man? Are you guys buying the dip?
