How do you feel about Genesys?

Hey guys, it’s me again. Our topic today is pretty self-explanatory. I just wanna know how do you guys feel about Yu-Gi-Oh!‘s newest way to play the game. Gensys.

I’ve heard a lot of different things from a lot of different people regarding how much they ever enjoy it or don’t. How some people say that it doesn’t do enough to shift the advanced Meta or that it doesn’t do enough to give underwhelming decks a chance against modern deck still.

In my personal opinion, I like it. I think it’s a fun way to play the game and I especially like the point system that they have. It’s an interesting idea compared to the ban list. I don’t know if I would say it makes the game simpler for newbies as at the end of the day the game is still really complicated and hard to get into if you’re not already set on getting into it. Overall, I like it and I’m excited to see how it will change overtime.

(I am currently playing doomz as my main competitive deck for it, but since Xyz is my favorite type of summoning, I play a lot of my advanced decks as well in Genesis with a few tweaks)

How would you solve the issue going second?

Hey guys, it’s me again, again the title is pretty self-explanatory. Going seconds in Yu-Gi-Oh! most of the time puts you at a disadvantage. Now, some people might argue that this is not the case if you’re playing a going second deck in which case you automatically gain the advantage, but this is not the case for every deck.

I think we all know or have heard that going second hurt your chances of winning astronomically, Iver from those YCS reports or master duel statistics or just from playing the game at our LCS. So I want to know how would you personally solve that? How would you make it that the second player has an equal shot at winning as the first player or at the very least as closest as possible to having a fair shot.

I know I usually put my own opinion at the end of these, but to be honest, I have no idea how they could fix it outside of some pretty crazy changes, like second player, exclusive hand traps or giving a second player more buffs like the ability to mulligan.

What is your opinion on hand traps? Part 2: the results.

Hey guys, it’s me again, it’s been roughly 24 hours since my last post asking you guys about hand traps and I was very intrigued by the results as I was with one of my earlier posts so I decided to make a spreadsheet

Below is a link to a Google sheet that has the opinions of commenters sorted into categories with the amount of comments that shared that opinion and the average of votes between each of those comments

It’s important to note that I did not look into the replies to the comments for the spreadsheet just those that were done in reply to my post and if a comment contained multiple different opinions, I include them each individually in the spreadsheet as one post towards the tally.

Finally, these are not my own opinions. There are users. Just saying this because I received some choice words from people last time I shared a spreadsheet like this as they fought it was my own opinions for some reason but anyway just try to remain civil in the comment section please. I know this is a debate a topic. I just want to share the answers I got from the post because I thought it was interesting.

What’s your opinion on hand traps?

Hey guys, it’s me again and you guys have really liked the last two posts I’ve done so I figure let’s get back into some more controversial territory. Probably one of the most hotly debated topics is hand traps.

Some people say they ruined the game ever say that they’re the only thing keeping the game for being horrifically power crept. Some say that they’ve gone too far and others say that they just are a natural progression of Yu-Gi-Oh‘s current cycle of power.

Personally, I have only started playing the game back in December of last year, so I can’t imagine playing the game without hand traps. So it’s kinda hard for me to have a firm stance on this as my opinion on them radically shifts, depending on what deck I’m playing or if I’m getting screwed over by my opponent. With the current cards, Konami has printed I would overall say that they might not be good, but are definitely necessary just because of how powerful they have made certain strategies and certain archetypes, but really the only way to combat against them being a hand trap but this feels flawed because as they print more and more powerful cards, they’re also gonna have to print more and more powerful hand traps that will just screw over more casual decks.

So what do you guys think? I know this is a complicated and highly debatable topic but I would appreciate it if we all try to be cool because the last time I tried to bring something up like this I got a lot of insults in my inbox. This is meant to be a discussion so the gauge have a community interacts and views the topic of hand traps not a thunder dome.

Blazing Dominion: A week later

Hey guys, it’s me again, so the most recent TCG set has been out for about a week now and I’ve been able to play some games with the cards with some friends and at locals and I want to both share some of my thoughts and hear your guys.

It’s important to note. I am not a competitive player. I do not take the game too seriously I only bother playing the Meta when there is prizing on the line. This will also not include the most recent band list that came out even though I know a lot of us have choice words on it.

First of all, as a enneacraft player, I really like the new support we got. It definitely makes the deck go into a higher rogue tier imo. Definitely not saying it’s Meta contender right now, but I can at least win some games against top level decks if I play my cards right and get a little lucky.

The new Mimighoul card is also sick I’m just happy that one of my fav archetypes is getting new support.

Kewl tune just got even more powerful, which normally I wouldn’t mind because I enjoy playing the deck but I definitely won’t be able to get the new support unless I get lucky in a pack opening because there is no way I’m paying $26 per card for a playset. And honestly, I think they might have gotten a bit too far with it, but I don’t think I’ve played against the deck long enough to confidently say that but I don’t think it’s looking to good for the meta rn.

Clown clan looks really fun and I’m excited to see where the archetype goes and I already ordered all the needed cards for a deck in order to test out myself

Finally, I’m gonna talk about the hand trap elephant in the room. That new solemn card and the dragon tuner whose name I’m forgetting that is currently going for I think $98 or something crazy is definitely my least favorite part of the set. But the good news is since the cards are so expensive pretty much nobody is playing them at my local scene safe for one guy who could only afford to buy one copy of it.

So what are your guys‘s thoughts on the set as a whole? I know a lot of people at least near me are pretty sour on it, but I think there’s still some good things to enjoy from it.

What is your ideal Yugioh Merch?

Hey guys it’s me again, thanks for all the kind messages. I’m glad u guys like my discussion posts and I do plan to keep doing them I was just busy over the weekend. So again the discussion is much the same as usual just look at the title, this idea came up because when I asked u guys what ur plans to help Yugioh one of the most popular ideas was better merch.

Now these can either be grounded or not grounded.
For example I’m a big fan of plushies and figures and if I’m being realistic I would want Konami to make meta relevant cards into these products (Zeus, Dimension Drifter, Link spider, little knight, etc) in my ideal world Konami would be like the Pokémon company and make a plushie/figure for every single Archetype. Where it be either the mascot or boss monster (or I guess both if it works for it) of the archetype. Than I can get a figure of Melffy, Goblin bikers, Mimighoul and flower cardians.

Hey guys, it’s me again, I’d like to thank you for the huge amount of discussion you guys had on my last big post, how to save Yu-Gi-Oh!, Got a lot of interesting discussions if you’re curious about the data relating to it, just go to my profile and click on the post for this one where I made a spreadsheet to show people’s thoughts.

Again, like most of my posts the discussion for today is pretty self-explanatory. What do you think is the hardest to play? My favorite deck in all of Yu-Gi-Oh is flower cardian which I’ve been told is the most complicated in Yu-Gi-Oh! but after playing it for so long, I don’t agree with that statement. It did take me two weeks to even understand really how to play the deck and understand the difference between the cards, but after that, it kind of becomes child’s play. For my money I would say it’s. D/D/D. There’s so many mechanics, so many cards and so many branching pathways that you can take those cards that just confuses me nonstop.

I also want to state. I’m not looking for an objective fact but rather your own personal opinion

Hey guys, it’s me again. I swear this is the last post for a bit basically because my laptop was broken. A lot of people were having trouble reading the data off mobile from my last post so I put it a spreadsheet once I got my laptop back. Again, this shows the results of the original post 48 hours after posted. It shows what the user commented as their solution, how many other commenters posted the same thing and the average of votes for that idea. If they commented a list I included each individual point as a separate comment. If you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask, and I swear this is the last one.

Apologies again for the confusion from the first post

Hey guys, it’s me again. I was bored so I did some math to see what your guys answers were on the last post on how to save Yu-Gi-Oh! below is a table, including the solution recommended by somebody, the number of posts that share that same idea and the average amount of up votes between all those posts. If the comment that mentioned it had multiple different solution solutions like a list I included all of them as its own unique post for that solution along with including the votes from that comment I don’t necessarily agree or disagree this is just the opinion stated by most people. It’s important to note. My PC is currently down so the table is currently created using my phone so I apologize if it looks weird off mobile.

Hey guys, bit of a hyperbolic title, but I’m talking about what it implies anyway. Yu-Gi-Oh has been doing great recently, at least from a player standpoint. Now the game isnt perfect nobody is saying that but products and sets have solved a lot of issues that people have been having recently. Making modern decks cheaper product that actually can have assemblance of life on shelves before dropping drastically in price and gensys seems to be doing a mostly good job in being another way to play that is interesting if not a bit too similar to advanced (speaking strictly to most meta decks being the same across the two). Despite all of these great advancements, I think we all agree that Yu-Gi-Oh! does still have some kinks that needs to work out. So what do you personally think could be done to make Yu-Gi-Oh! better from a purely gameplay perspective or maybe a sales and distribution perspective?

In my opinion, they need to find ways to make boxes more valuable because it’s quite crazy to me that in LCS will try to sell me a box for 80 bucks why it’s currently going for $20 on trading card game player. This is just not a sound business model and many LCS’s have stopped selling Yu-Gi-Oh because it just doesn’t make sense for them to stock it, considering the players will always buy it online. So I think shops should be getting pre-order bonuses or some other fancy incentive to buy boxes at local physical stores. These packs or cards that they offer definitely should not be meta-defining or anything. I don’t even think they should be new cards. I’m talking alternative arts or maybe full frame conversions.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

Hey guys, asking this here because OPTCG won’t let me but I have a lot of friends coming back for the summer and they all play one piece and want me to as well but the issue is that I’m not the biggest fan of the series so I just want to know before I buy a starter deck (as I don’t waste my money) is the game fun enough on its own without the IP that buying the cards is worth it?

Hey guys, it’s me again. A bit of a strange one, but I’m very curious with The answers with this. I want to know how popular the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game is in your area just for my own example. Those that have read one of my earlier posts. Know that I have about four areas I play Yu-Gi-Oh in and I will say them all very quickly going over their location what they are and where Yu-Gi-Oh stands there

First is a LCS in a for lack of a better word bad neighborhood, they have two Yu-Gi-Oh! nights, Friday and Saturday and a genesis night on Sunday. Yu-Gi-Oh! is their second best selling product behind magic the gathering, but is the most played card game at the store. Pokémon is also very popular there but the children that come in usually just want the expensive collector cards. Their parents usually steer them over to the Yu-Gi-Oh section to buy the less expensive collector cards, which usually makes them end up playing the game.

Second, another LCS, this one next to a gated community. They are mostly focused on magic the gathering and Pokémon and sell zero Yu-Gi-Oh singles. In fact they only have one night or Yu-Gi-Oh! and it is only for Genesis on Sunday night. Magic the gathering Pokémon and Lorcana are much more popular and have game nights pretty much every day.

Third is the last LCS, these guys are located in pretty much the center of the biggest city in my area where Yu-Gi-Oh! is the fourth best selling TCG, but the second most played. So they make most of their money by making people pay to play for tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Lastly, we have the clubs at my college. There are three main ones. Magic gathering Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokémon. Magic the gathering in Pokémon, have way more members than the Yu-Gi-Oh! one, but from what I’ve heard no one in the Pokémon club really plays the game It’s more of a trading type thing along with the fact that I’ve heard that the magic the gathering club recently lost a lot of members because the slew of new people coming in just wanna play Commander not that there’s anything wrong with that. It just made a lot of the older members mad. There is a board game club that apparently plays the other TCG‘s very regularly and as of the beginning of the second semester for this year, there was a one piece club, which apparently has a lot of members. I just don’t know much about it.

So yeah, in my area, I would say if there was a hierarchy, it would go magic the gathering, Pokémon one piece then Yu-Gi-Oh! if we’re counting total sales

And just for playing the game, I would say it’s magic the gathering, one piece, then Yu-Gi-Oh!

But yeah, let me guys know how popular is playing the actual game or just how popular is it for people to collect the cards in your area?
