MONA is infuriating - unpopular opinion
Today was the big day, I’ve been in hobart three months and it was time to visit MONA. I was excited.
I love an art gallery, one of my favourite things to do all over the world. I realise after today… that for me to enjoy the artworks, I like a brief summary of the work and artist, and the time period. I like to wander around at my own leisure, perhaps exchange comments with a fellow browser.
Fuck me - I hated my MONA experience. I spent approximately 70% of the time on my phone, doing my quick browsing of the mass text waffle to work out what’s what, and where the fuckin exit is.
Can I sit on that chair? I’m not sure if it’s an artwork or not because THERES NO SIGNS
Do I want to be surrounded by others also looking down at their phone in a dark space? I could go to a train station in a large city for free.
Not least being distracted by incoming emails and group whatsapps because I’m ON MY PHONE FOR HOURS.
Am I the idiot? I understand we are in a modern world etc
