New Pickup Day! Gibson ‘57 classic in the neck, Gibson t-type in the bridge
The story behind this guitar: a few years ago, when I was starting out on guitar, I desperately wanted an electric, but I didn’t have the money for anything but a cheap squire, which is what I figured I’d buy. Instead, a good friend gave me his old Epiphone Les Paul special ii, and even though it was cheap, I fell in love with it immediately. At the time, I was using a peavey rage 158 amp with a broken jack and a behringer overdrive distortion pedal. To be honest, sometimes I still miss that tone. As I have progressed and gotten better guitars, I decided that I needed to keep this one sounding good enough that I’d still want to play it even though I had nicer guitars. Around Christmas time last year, I was given a HUGE pedalboard that I could never fill out because my mom found it online really cheap and had heard me saying I needed a pedalboard (thanks, mom!) Anyway I ended up trading it for a Gibson t-type bridge pickup and swapping it out with the epi. Now, yesterday I got a real Gibson Les Paul in a trade, but the guy that had it had replaced the original pickups with Seymour Duncan’s. I asked if he still had the originals and ended up buying the neck pup from him. (‘57 classic). I just got it swapped in, and once I sand the finish on the neck a bit, this thing will be a beast. I just hope I don’t cut myself on the broken off selector switch…
