Any tips for helping with mental fatigue as a new starter?

Just completed my first shift as a ward clerk, in my previous job I was working 6-8 hour shifts in a job that didn’t require too much focus or attention, and now I’m doing 12 hour shifts learning something new, at the start of my shift I was able to do my job without needing much help from my notes, but as I hit the 8 hour mark I feel like my brain genuinely stopped working and coffee sadly wasn’t doing a thing 🤣 my sleep could probably be a bit better but other than that is there any tips for battling the fatigue side of it?

Old employer won’t provide reference

I’ve just recently been offered a band 2 role, I feel blessed given the current job market and keen to make the most of it, but my old employer just won’t seem to provide a reference, I have one reference done covering the last 2 years but this other job just won’t seem to do it but they are a company that does give references out. Since Friday they’ve had 2 requests from the recruiter, an email from a senior ops manager that I spoke with about this recently, my old manager and one from me, they’ve had 5 emails in total since Friday asking if they could do it and they just aren’t bothering, I’m starting to panic that I might lose this opportunity is there a likely chance of this happening?

Will applying for UC effect my mums benefits?

The way things are going it seems like moving in with my mum might be a possibility, she receives PIP and UC and I believe her rent is covered.

I only get 12 hours a week at my job ( I’m already applying elsewhere I’ve made 50 applications in the last 2 weeks) , if I move back in and claim UC for my low income would that effect her money in any way? Last thing I want to do is cause her any issues.

Any help is much appreciated

Have I left it too late?

Long story short I’ve not made the best decisions since leaving college but I’m currently in my 2nd month of recovery from substance abuse spanning over 12 years, I’m more determined than ever to try and fix my life.

I’m currently 28 bouncing around entry level jobs, when I went to college I completed my electrical installations - buildings and structures - diploma - level 2 & 3 and I absolutely loved it, after finishing I didn’t really have much guidance and wasn’t sure what to do so I was just calling companies asking if they would sponsor my nvq, I rang every company I could find and didn’t have any luck, give up on it and the rest is history.

Obviously it’s been a while since I’ve been doing it, but is there a realistic route I could take to get back on track with this?

Any advice would be more than appreciated thank you 🙏

I am so lost

To keep it brief I’m 28 and currently 1 month into recovery from substance abuse of 12 years, I left school with 5 gcse’s went to uni and dropped out and been bouncing around entry level jobs ever since, my current crappy job has majorly cut hours so I’m only getting about 10-12 hours a week at the minute I’m applying elsewhere but the job market in the UK is horrendous at the moment, I’m more determined than ever to make something of myself but I don’t know where to look, I’m trying to keep my head up but I’m on a real downer at the moment but thankfully I haven’t relapsed and don’t plan on doing so I know that would only make things worse, I recently joined the gym but that isn’t really helping much it’s just something to distract myself for an hour. I have a good group of friends but I haven’t really opened up to them they have their own lives to deal with. I really don’t know what to do
