Recently got an offer to the eng program, but since I got the offer after March 1, residency is not guaranteed for me (spot 2000 on waitlist). How is the student life there without living on res? Would I make friends and experience that uni life?

Applied to 6 schools and only heard back from 2, thinking about accepting one of the offers I got, but I also want to wait. If they are taking this long, is it most likely that I am not going to get accepted?
