Just watched "The Bounty" on tubi and made me think of this. Along the same lines.
Help me get over this.
We were almost buying a home in 2019 for $280k with a $60k down payment . Missed and that house is now $550k. Saw, in my eyes, a massive housing/immigration scam.
So, now we're looking at a $400 townhouse. $140k down payment, maybe more, would refer here later. Less than half the home we were looking at in 2019.
Cleared at bank for a $600k home, but after what I felt I saw, no way, zero confidence in any form of security. Too, a scam.
a) I do not want to give this fellow his $200k 'cut' of the housing/immi scam.
b) rates do not feel ideal as who knows what the powers that be are capable of next. Rates may go as high as 15-20%
c) young kids, I'm old tho. I am thinking of continuing to eat shit, smile, and politely ask for seconds all the while just saving/investing for my young kids. But, later (2-5 years) will have two young teens with bunk-beds in a small 2 bed apt. Obviously not good stuff.
