Evaluating my profile for Yonsei, KU, and SKKU (CS/AI Major)

Hi everyone!

I am a 17-year-old student preparing my undergraduate applications for Computer Science / AI programs in South Korea (specifically targeting Yonsei, Korea University, and SKKU).

I wanted to share my background and see if anyone currently studying at these universities (or who went through the admissions process) could share feedback on my chances and recommendations.

Academic & Test Profile:

  • GPA: 5.0 / 5.0 (High School / College Diploma)
  • Qualifications: Master of Digital Information Processing & Web Content Administrator
  • Language Proficiency: IELTS 7.0 | TOPIK Level 3

Technical Background & Projects:

  • Programming Languages: Proficient in C++ and Java; currently expanding into Python.
  • Projects: Developed a Pomodoro productivity web app and a health tracking tool (calculating BMI/ideal weight and suggesting recommendations).

I am currently working on my personal statements and securing recommendation letters.

A few questions for the community:

  1. How competitive is my profile for CS/AI programs at Yonsei, KU, or SKKU with a TOPIK 3 and IELTS 7?
  2. Are there specific areas in my personal essay I should emphasize to stand out for STEM majors?
  3. For those who got accepted into these universities, what pushed your application over the edge?

Thanks in advance for any insights or advice!

Hesitation for getting into YONSEI, KOREA, SKKU

Hi everyone, I am 17 and now I am planning to apply for YONSEI, KOREA, SKKU universities. I have IELTS 7, TOPIK 3 and high school 5/5 gpa and recently I got my diploma in specialization of and mastered following qualification (s): Master of digital information processing, WEB content administrator from my college. So now I need to complete some personal essays and get recommendation letters. As my major would be the computer science/ AI, I knew some coding languages (c++, java and now i am learning python) and created some websites with low user income pomidoro style one and the one can advice about your weight, height and recommend doctor, nearby cafe (if u light ) or gym depends on your location. The reason I am hesitating is that the acceptance rate of these universities is around 20%. What do you think? If I get some impressive recommendation letters from my counselor and teacher, can I get into them? If u have any experience which can aid me, please be in touch.
