EC Activities and honors for Freshman Undergraduate Admission

Hi guys! I checked the guideline for Spring Intake 2027, and it appears that applicants only can write about their activities and honors through the list of optional documents (MAX 10) and only mail it. Can somebody help me to verify that information? If it is true, is there any more comprehensive guideline or samples on how one could describe their activities and honors? Thank you in advance!

Clubs/Activities for Exchange Students

I am an incoming exchange student for the Fall semester at KU, and I was wondering if anyone knows where to find the different options for clubs (and also information about the KU Buddy program). Specifically, is there a music/band club at KU open to exchange students? I am debating whether to bring my guitar with me or not.

Tennis at KU

Is there a tennis community at KU? I'm an exchange student coming for the '26 fall semester and I'm planning on bringing my raquets. I've not seen anything about a tennis club on the university's website but it seems like there are some courts on campus.
Thanks in advance:)

Aiuto per la candidatura alle università coreane!!!

Ciao!

Making friends at KU as an exchange student with minimal Korean

Hey everyone,

I’m heading to Korea University soon on exchange. My Korean is at a very basic/survival level (working on it, but definitely not conversational yet). I want to make sure I don't just stay isolated or get stuck solely in an expat bubble.

I’d love to hear from past exchange students or current KU students:

  1. How active are the KUBA (Buddy Program) groups? Is it the main hub for social life, and does it genuinely facilitate close friendships with local Korean students?
  2. Are there specific central clubs, sports groups, or international student associations at KU that are welcoming and accessible to non-fluent Korean speakers?
  3. In daily campus life and classes, how open/comfortable are local students with speaking English socially?
  4. How easy is it to make friends in general if you don't speak too much Korean?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Anyone got experience with opening bank account before ARC?

I thought an ARC was required to open a bank account in Korea, but it looks like some banks (or maybe just specific branches) let foreigners open an account with just a passport, proof of residence, and possibly a few other documents.

Has anyone here actually done this before getting their ARC? If so, which bank/branch did you use, and what documents did they ask for?

Best way for international students to pay tuition & dorm fees?

Hey guys,

I checked the fees for a standard international SWIFT bank wire to pay my tuition and housing fees, and between the exchange rate markup and intermediary bank fees, it ends up being way too costly.

For other international students, what is the most cost-effective method you actually use to pay your school fees?

Would love to hear what worked best for you in terms of minimizing total transfer costs! Any recommendations or hacks are appreciated! 🙏

graduate course registration

I'm starting my master's this fall as an international student, and when registration opened, I found that every course I needed was already full. I couldn't get into a single one of them.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? I'm honestly pretty stressed and not sure what to do next. Is this a normal first-semester hiccup that usually works itself out, or is it something I should be actively worried about? Who's the right person to reach out to about this?

Should I just wait it out and rely on the add/drop period, or is there more I should be doing right now?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been in this situation

The workload at Korea University

How bad is it? Specially in STEM and upper-level business classes.

For English courses open to exchange students, how feasible is it to get good grades studying 4-5 hours a day?

Need help on choosing language program!

Hi! I am planning to go to KU for exchange this winter~ and I am now planning to take Beginning Korean but I don’t know which level to choose as there are 1 and 2. Has anyone experienced any of these courses and can offer some advice?( the syllabuses are quite confused😇)

My background: I know the basic Korean Alphabet well, and I can handle basic daily chats (eg: hotel check-in, ordering food, sometimes small talk…). Also, I understand about 65% of what people are saying in daily life and I can respond with some simple sentences.
BUT my vocabulary is quite limited😿 and my reading/writing can be slow – I’m not confident with texts or writing full paragraphs.
My concern:
1 feels safer (and also less workload for a short-term exchange), but I’m worried it’ll be not worth it if it just repeats the alphabet. And 2 seems more useful and challenging but I’m scared I’ll lag behind.

Any advice or experience are appreciated!!!

Korean beginner speaking class 1

Hiiii, I'll be going to KU as an exchange student this fall. I learned I qualified to go pretty last minute so sadly I know pretty much no Korean as of right now.
I've seen there is a beginner speaking class, have any of you taken that class? If yes is it doable without any prior knowledge of the language? Wondering since the classes are taught in Korean.

Evaluating my profile for Yonsei, KU, and SKKU (CS/AI Major)

Hi everyone!

I am a 17-year-old student preparing my undergraduate applications for Computer Science / AI programs in South Korea (specifically targeting Yonsei, Korea University, and SKKU).

I wanted to share my background and see if anyone currently studying at these universities (or who went through the admissions process) could share feedback on my chances and recommendations.

Academic & Test Profile:

  • GPA: 5.0 / 5.0 (High School / College Diploma)
  • Qualifications: Master of Digital Information Processing & Web Content Administrator
  • Language Proficiency: IELTS 7.0 | TOPIK Level 3

Technical Background & Projects:

  • Programming Languages: Proficient in C++ and Java; currently expanding into Python.
  • Projects: Developed a Pomodoro productivity web app and a health tracking tool (calculating BMI/ideal weight and suggesting recommendations).

I am currently working on my personal statements and securing recommendation letters.

A few questions for the community:

  1. How competitive is my profile for CS/AI programs at Yonsei, KU, or SKKU with a TOPIK 3 and IELTS 7?
  2. Are there specific areas in my personal essay I should emphasize to stand out for STEM majors?
  3. For those who got accepted into these universities, what pushed your application over the edge?

Thanks in advance for any insights or advice!

International students at Korea’s top universities (SNU/Korea/Yonsei), how did you get accepted and what advice would you give to applicants?

Hi everyone!
I’m an international student preparing to apply to universities in Korea, especially the top universities like Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University.
I would really appreciate hearing from international students who are currently studying at these universities.
Could you please share:
What university and major are you studying?
What was your academic background (GPA, language scores like TOPIK/IELTS/TOEFL, extracurricular activities, awards, etc.)?
What do you think was the most important factor that helped you get accepted?
What mistakes should applicants avoid?
What advice would you give to someone who wants to apply to a top Korean university as an international student?
I know every applicant is different, but hearing real experiences from accepted students would be extremely helpful.
Thank you so much!

Looking for a Female Roommate Near Korea University

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a female roommate to share a 2-bedroom apartment near Korea University starting this fall semester.

I’m 27F and starting my PhD at Korea University this fall. I’ve already completed my Master’s degree in Korea and I’m currently in Korea.

The apartment hasn’t been rented yet. I’m currently looking at 2-bedroom apartments around ₩5,000,000 deposit / ₩900,000 monthly rent, so it would be around ₩2,500,000 deposit + ₩450,000/month per person.

The main reason I’m looking for a roommate instead of getting a one-room is that I’m a huge food lover and I LOVE cooking 😂 So I really want a place with a separate, spacious kitchen.

If you’re also looking for a place near Korea University and are interested in sharing, please DM me!

which cyber university is best in south korea?

im looking to apply for a major in any creative fields as a foreigner, living in a foreign developing country, where I barely have access to good universities especially for something creative and for that I feel south korea is where learning and teaching would be better comparatively to where I am and as of moment I'm a drop out who's wanting to pursue a degree in a creative field and move abroad to south east asia or europe, maybe. and as someone who won't be allowed to study abroad, but for a job later surely, I was thinking of going for a cyber university so please help me by lmk which one would be good, would appreciate any advice if you know someone or have studied yourself in any of the cyber universities

16yo CBSE student applying to Korean universities for Business — rate my profile?

Hi everyone! I'm a 16-year-old Grade 12 CBSE student from India planning to apply for English-taught Business/GBA programs in Korea for Fall 2027. I'd really appreciate some honest feedback on my profile and what I can improve before applications.

Academics:

Grade 10: 87%

Grade 11: 70%

Grade 12 goal: 80–90%+

Planning to take IELTS soon

ECs/Achievements:

🥋 Taekwondo: ~10+ gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze medals; Blue belt

🥋 Hapkido: Blue belt

🏐 2nd place in an inter-school volleyball competition

🏫 School Council member twice

🗣️ MUNs + Youth Parliament

Various school leadership/organising activities

Universities I'm currently looking at: SKKU GBA (my original first choice, but unfortunately currently Spring-only), Korea University, Kyung Hee, Sejong, Yonsei, SNU, Sogang, and Hongik.

I'm specifically looking for actual English-taught undergraduate Business/GBA programs, not universities where only some courses are available in English.

I'd love advice on:

  1. How competitive my profile is?

  2. Whether the Grade 11 dip will hurt me?

  3. What ECs/achievements I should focus on improving?

  4. Any universities/programs I may have missed?

5? What I should be doing during Grade 12 to strengthen my application?

Would really appreciate feedback from anyone who's applied to Korean universities, especially international/CBSE students!

ARC help!!!

i’ve booked my ARC appointment individually (so not a group application with KU) before semester starts and noticed that i will need a certificate of registration/certificate of enrollment. i emailed GSC but they only told me that i will need to go in person to pick up the COE but it is not guaranteed that they will have it as i am going before semester starts.

has any exchange/international students been able to obtain the certificate of registration from one-stop instead of the COE and used that as one of their documents submitted for their ARC?
