Johnny Depp is in talks to be in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie despite saying he won't act in a Disney movie even if he gets "$300 million and a million alpacas". This is because Avengers is finally becoming profitable for Disney to buy a million and one alpacas.

What is the expectation of everyone when it comes to the third midfielder? Are you expecting that player to be the starter?

Making this post because everyone seems obsessed with Beleba and Tchouameni as the predominant names which are being brought up. I'm assuming it's because we don't have that athletic player in the middle of the pitch, one who covers ground and wins duels.

I'd be happy if we get either, but I do not see a player of that profile being the starter under Carrick. One of the best players in terms of tackling and covering the ground per 90 in the league is Manuel Ugarte. Carrick started him in one game that we lost.

The way he's setting up his midfield pivot is a deep lying playmaker who drops in between the centerbacks to get the ball along with an energetic box to box midfielder who gets the ball up to Bruno or the wingers. Last season, Mainoo was the one who played the deepest role, dropping in between defense and starting the attacks through passing or him carrying while Casemiro played higher up with his passing range and tackling. When we defend, we play a mid block in a compact 4-4-2 where Casemiro didn't have to cover a lot of distance. The defensive shape we play is explicitly so there isn't a need for a player like Baleba who's primary trait is running around the pitch. We also said no to Ederson who was available on a cheap deal and plays similar to Baleba.

During preseason, Andrey Santos is playing that deep lying playmaker role, getting the ball up to our No 10 or pass it to Mount who links up further up in midfield. Mount has had a good preseason but Mainoo and Tielemens best position is that box to box connecting role, he's going to be Mainoo's backup/rotation option. Mainoo can also play the deeper role he did last year if he has to, so can Tielemans. The first choice midfield for us is going to be either Mainoo/Santos/Tielemans and Tielemens/Mainoo/Mount.

Now Tchouameni, if we sign him would probably get in ahead of Santos because he is good at passing and great at heading. Outside of him though, I'm struggling to find a midfield destroyer who is also elite at passing. It is a very specific set of skills, which was why we wanted Anderson and Mateus Fernandes who could play that deep lying playmaker role. We could go for an Angelo Stiller or an Adam Wharton but Santos seems better at the defensive scanning side and offers more physicality than either of them.

I think the issue right now at the club is the profile of the third midfielder who Carrick will play is different to the ones who they were looking for. There's no point in spending 70 million on Baleba if Carrick thinks Santos is better for his system and puts Baleba on the bench. If that's the case, the question becomes how much we should spend for a rotational third midfielder when a leftback and supporting striker for an injured Sesko should be the bigger focus.

In Jujutsu Kaisen (2019), the core reason for the story progression is the lead Yuji Itadori bonds with an unhinged lunatic over their shared love for "tall girls with big butts like Jennifer Lawrence".

Thoughts on Yoro at Right Back?

Not saying long term or changing his role in the team but Carrick sometimes likes to play a formation which is essentially 3 in the back in attack with one fullback pushing on as the extra attacker. At home, it could be interesting if Dorgu plays as the leftback who is mostly an attacking option while Yoro being the defensive fullback who stays back to make a back 3.

It would essentially be like Amorim's formation in attack. Yoro is great as a channel defender on the right and you have either Amad or Mbeumo in front who can help out with the defense. If we have either Cunha or Rashford who likes to cut inside, Dorgu offers the wide option.

Currently neither Dalot or Mazroui offer a lot offensively down the right anyway so having Yoro play there when we are chasing a game or against a low block could be an option to get an extra attacker in.

Manchester working on a deal to sign Tottenham attacker Tynan Thompson

Any information on him? Seems like we are close to signing the kid. 18 year old left footed left winger from Tottenham, quite tall at 6'2". We don't sign a lot of 18 year olds for the academy so this feels a lot like an Ayden Heaven situation where he may feature in the first team relatively quickly.

We need a physical, athletic, No 6 next in our midfield.

I propose we get Batman. I'm tried of posts suggesting players who aren't Batman.

Why would you want Baleba? Baleba isn't Batman! Neither is Sangare or Kone or any of the players none of you have watched and just seen highlights on YouTube or seen in the World Cup.

Batman is athletic, he's tall, he's physical, covers ground quickly and he scares attackers. He's also a proper defensive minded 6, doesn't look for goals and just focuses on beating up his opposition. He's also a free transfer.

My disappointment will be immeasurable if we let Spurs get Batman.

Is signing bench/rotation players from big clubs going to be a better way to get players than the best players from low/mid table clubs?

You have Elliot Anderson going for 130m and Mateus Fernandes for 85m. Alex Scott, Baleba, Adam Wharton are all pegged around the same bracket.

All of these players have mostly only had a year or two where they have been truly exceptional. Baleba was terrible last year, Alex Scott has been plagued with injuries till last year. But because they are under 23, the optics are they have 100 million potential like Declan Rice or a Roy Keane before with us.

Contrast that with an Andrey Santos. He had one of the best seasons for a midfielder in the top 5 leagues a year ago at Strasbourg. Went back to Chelsea, was a rotational player and played 41 matches with 25 starts in all competitions, around 2410 minutes played (media just reports his 1255 Premier League minutes to make it so he didn't play as much). Had an okay season, much better than Baleba and Alex Scott the year before or Mateus Fernandes at Southampton. He played in the Premier League, two cup competitions, Champions League, is in a better position to understand the schedule of a top club in four competitions and at 22 is only going to get better.

We got him for 50 million. Mateus Fernandes went to West Ham from the Championship in relegated Southampton for 40.

There is way more value in targeting players in the top teams who are in the fringes than the big fish in a small pond like the smaller teams. We'd be happy to get 10-15 for Vitek when he'd be a 30 million player at a smaller club. Scott Mctominay was worth 25 million even though he played for 8 years at United and subsequently went to be nominated for the Balon D'or. Conte won the Scudetto at 3 clubs with our heavily discounted players.

Big clubs always have very little patience and are happy to sell their fringe players at lower than market rates to fund big signings. We got Mazroui from Bayern for 18 million, for example. Even the figures suggested for Tchouameni was just 70m euros. That's less than Sesko and Mbeumo.

I think we should be looking at the players who are in the middle tier of top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Barca, Bayern, Madrid. They've already been scouted by these teams and should have Elite potential, have European Cup experience and just struggling for form/developing in many cases. They'd be happy to sell at relatively reasonable prices because the players will be on wages not palatable for lower level teams.

Tropic Thunder (2008) originally had Keanu Reeves and Owen Wilson in the roles played by Ben Stiller and Matthew McConaughey. They had to be recast after spending 6 hours just repeating "Woah" and "Wow" to each other.
