Issues with black screen on Quest 3

Several months ago I started having an issue with my Quest 3, and I've finally decided to try doing some more in-depth troubleshooting to see if I can resolve the problem.

Symptoms:

Upon powering on, the Quest 3 gives its normal audio cues and the spinning, animated Meta logo shows up on the screen. Once it is finished booting, it gives the normal audio cue and boots to a black screen. Pressing and holding the power button does cause the "Headset Power" menu to come up, giving me the normal options, but I cannot use the controllers to make a selection.

The controllers will intermittently vibrate/pulse, and the light will occasionally flash on it. It doesn't look like the normal "SOS" pattern, based on what I can see online, but I could be wrong on that.

I can access the menu via Power+Volume Down in order to factory default the device or put it into Sideload mode for manual updates.

Troubleshooting:

I initially tried factory defaulting the device. This didn't seem to do anything, so I ran the manual software update via https://www.meta.com/help/quest/software_update/ . The update ran in its entirety, and while updating the Quest 3 screen did show the icon indicating that the device was being updated, and the update progress bar. The update doesn't seem to have changed the behavior of the device at all - I still get the normal boot logo into black screen, with all the proper audio cues.

I have cleaned the forehead sensor and removed the black face pad, neither did anything.

I cannot connect it to any wifi networks, as far as I am aware, due to not being able to access any of the settings or connectivity menus on the device itself.

I'm not sure what else I could try to get this machine to work. It was purchased secondhand, and was working fine for months up until this issue began. Since purchasing it, the device has not had any drops, falls, or knocks that would damage it.
