There’s no checkmate if I don’t play the game
Sometimes I see familiar faces in the words here. A phrase, a detail, something that makes me pause. I don’t know who is behind a screen, and I’m done spending my peace trying to figure it out.
Let me say this plainly..
I will not read anyone else’s words in this place anymore. I will share my writings and retreat.
No searching. No rereading. No asking myself whether something was meant for me. My thoughts already keep me awake enough without giving strangers’ sentences a place beside them.
If you know me and want to speak to me, reach out directly, as yourself, outside this place. I will listen to an honest conversation. But I won’t search a crowd for one.
Whatever remains unsaid can stay unsaid until someone chooses to say it plainly.
I’m putting the board away. You can call it check or checkmate. I no longer need to settle that to leave the table.
I came here to put my feelings into words.
I’m leaving those words here.
I’m taking myself home
