New to the art of airbrushing and need a bit of guidance/help

I recently purchased a Gaahleri Ghad-39 airbrush (since it has the .3 and .5 nozzle and seems decent for something i don't even know if ill be using it often) for a chip repair i have on my truck. Its a metallic grey color that i tried to fix with a touch up pen with a bunch of frustration due to it not looking right or the metallic flakes clumping up on the brush strokes even though i have experience fixing chips.

Digging online I saw a few repairs done with spray cans. While that's good and all, I don't need a whole can of the paint and for a chip that's smaller than a pencil eraser i don't see how i would control the spray from a rattle can. So my next idea was the airbrush to control the size and flow of the paint.

I saw a few videos as far as thinning the paint, how to use the airbrush with my pancake air compressor, how to use the brush and now to thin the clear coat and all that stuff. I plan on practicing with the airbrush on a spare piece of sheet metal I have laying around and somewhat replicating the chip with some cheap paint and varnish/clear coat and just chipping it to practice feathering it out and blending the paint and clear coat.

Any recommendations on clears/ paints you guys would recommend that would allow me to do that that that are not in big quart or pint size containers like the 2k clear coats? What are some tips and tricks you guys would recommend? Issues I could possibly run into and things like that. I'm quite familiar with working on cars, painting and all that but air brushing is my new to me so I'm doing all the research I can and getting any guidance/ tips possible before I delve down that road.
