2018 Terra Valentine Cabernet Sauvignon Fountaingrove District

I’m not sure if I like this wine but I don’t dislike it. I believe it may have been a LB Marathon purchase.

In the glass it started out purple however over time, more garnet with a reddish rim.

There was the classic Spring Mountain perfume as it was poured into the decanter, simply intoxicating.

On the nose, bright ripe black fruit, coffee, milk chocolate, oak and irony stone. Weirdly new and old world.

On the palate, medium bodied and mildly acidic with being smooth but slightly tart with bright red and black fruit, crushed stone, cigar, earth, and tea. The wine felt tannic to me and a little hot based in the 14.9% abv.

100% Cabernet
abv 14.9%
Decant 1.5 hrs

I don’t dislike it but not something I would reach for. It feels like a BBQ wine, similar to how you would enjoy Zin.

2017 Sequoia Grove Rutherford Bench Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

I’ve gone through 1/2 a case of this wine, it’s super versatile and drinks very nicely.

The 2017 Rutherford Bench Reserve is comprised of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc.

It’s garnet-purple in color.

On the nose, red fruit notes of raspberry and cherry, violets and hint of earth.

On the palate, ripe raspberry, anise, baked cherries, cedar and black tea. The wine is medium bodied but felt a little grainy.

Decant 1.5 hours

14.4% abv

Edit: Now on hour 3, the ripeness of the fruit has mellowed and there is a creaminess to the wine. Still red fruit forward but now with a vanilla - raspberry cream.

10 year resident that sadly has not explored the city or area

To say I work a lot is an understatement, I’m typically out of State 2+ weeks a month, frequently through bna or Tune.

When I’m home, I’m doing, well, home stuff or recovering from jet lag and… working. I have not explored the greater Nashville area very much at all. I’d like to change that, starting this weekend.

I suppose, I would be doing this solo, any suggestions for activities or something peaceful and enjoyable? I’m not much of a Broadway guy.

Any must do’s from a local perspective?

▲ 12 r/AMG

My insurance company considered my AMG four-door coupe salvage, after I was rear-ended.

I am considering the GT 43 four door coupe or perhaps the CLS 450. Both engines are the same however, proportions of the CLS are a little smaller.

My understanding is that the CLS is a little bit more of smoother ride similar to an E class whereas AMG is a tad more spirited.

Since the AMG is a bit larger and can house 4 carry-on suitcases in the trunk, I’m leaning towards the AMG however there is comfortably a $12,000-$15,000 price difference for cars with a similar mileage, with the CLS costing less.

I’m very familiar with the AMG GT 4 door coupe, less so with the cls. are there any other considerations that I should factor in for the CLS that could sway my decision?
