So, the Wife wanted a bus.

We did a thing!

Meet TEANA! Our 1974 T2 that was a bag of lemons that we turned into lemonade!

A few months ago we bought this van from a guy who neglected the poor thing to death. He sold it as a good runner, that didn't leak and had no rust.

So I put up a bunch of money and bought the thing. Lo and behold, she was pretty rusty under the cheap plywood and paint and I needed to do something. So I mustered up all my tools and started working on this beautiful unique van!

I'm slowly going through it with a fine-tooth comb getting the important stuff done. It had a snapped sway bar clasp, bad brakes, no proper seat belts and it had been cobbled together poorly. By the looks of it, he drug it out of a field and put the bare minimum into it.

So I took it upon myself to try and save this poor beast.

Just wanted to show her off! I love the community, and I love this bus! I'm going to keep it forever, and I'll just keep fixing it until I run out of things to fix.

I am open to suggestions!

What's with aluminum these days?

Just noticed that the aluminum in my antenna housing has just corroded away completely.... What kind of quality aluminum do we have here?

A whole dollar more...... SMH...

Went to buy a replacement tube for a flat tire.... For a whole dollar, I got a rim and a new tire. How does that even make sense...

Sooooo, I just purchased a T2 bus.

My first question is about maintenance and where can I get a service manual for her? Also, any tips or tricks?

She runs and drives well, and is decently rust free. I want to run through her and check things like wheel bearings, brakes and fix the steering slop.

Edit: thank you for all the suggestions! I'm definitely going to get the idiot book, and I will definitely add the Bentley book to my collection of Bentley books.... 😁😁😁😁

So I have this Robin that is continuously attacking all the vehicles in our driveway, it's kind of cute because we just had a relative pass away and according to spirituality, it's our loved one attempting to tell us how much they love us.

However, I don't want to see this little guy get hurt, nor do I want the damage to the vehicles (from an automotive perspective, bird poop is highly acidic and will damage the paint on the vehicle.)

I understand that he is fighting his own reflection, or highly confused. So I turned the mirrors away so that he can't see his reflection but he is still attacking the window (disregarding the mirrors).

From a scientific standpoint, the entire vehicle is reflective, why is he only attacking the windows? If I covered them with that reflective bird film on the inside, will that help? Does it have to do with factory UV reflective tint on the window? Or is he really just daft?

Kindest regards.
