If you could choose the specialty, what would you choose?

Hi folks,

I’m not a coder, I’m in follow up/denials management. So I hope this post is okay.

My org is restructuring from payer based to specialty based. I’m used to doing all specialties which was nice because I had the somewhat autonomy to choose what to work each day.

Now I have the opportunity to choose a specialty but I’m kind of stuck.

I don’t think I would want to do solely Emergency med or internal medicine, I feel like it would be very repetitive. And to do it nonstop all day… yeesh. HOWEVER, it would probably be minimal phone time with insurance reps. Usually it’s appealing e/m leveling denials.

I do like when High dollar claims(surgery/ortho/oncology/etc) finally pay, but at times I can get frustrated along the way. Especially phone calls with offshore reps. It can be a lot of work, but it is rewarding…

If you could choose, what would you pick and why? Absolutely no patient interaction, thankfully. In case that matters.

Please see the link for a remote ProFee coder position. Sorry, not entry level friendly.

I HAVE NO AFFILIATION AT ALL. Don’t ask me questions because I do not know.

US only, remote. I believe they hire from all 50 states.

Pay is ~$52-$59 an hour. Benefits are incredible, or so I’ve heard..

Good luck!!

Gift to myself 🙂‍↕️

I went to the ER last week and ended up being admitted for 5 days, had to get emergency surgery to remove my infected gallbladder.

Pros:
- The ER doc was so cute (like SpongeBob meme oh no he’s hot) and gave me IV morphine expeditiously
- all the nurses and staff were so kind
- my own room and bathroom at the hospital
- the food was decent
- the hospital was the best bartender I’ve ever had 😉
- 4 new belly buttons (cool!)

Cons:
- gallbladder was being a total dick, obv.
- 4 new belly buttons (ouch)
- IV antibiotics suck
- having a drain also sucks

I’m on the mend and decided to treat myself to Vanille. It’s my first Diptyque, and basically my first luxury candle above voluspa.

Also decided to treat myself to fancy hand soap from Aesop. It’s an investment okay!! I’m gonna refill the bottle with softsoap.

And a hefty online order from the Mooncat (nail polish!) sale. I might have done 2 orders. Also an investment.

Husband has been my absolute rock during this time. Fully supportive of treating myself.

All things considered, things are okay. Life is short. Buy the nice things that make you feel good.

Hi besties

In California, Blue Cross (Anthem) and Blue Shield are separate entities. Out of state BCBS plans are billed to Blue Shield (most).

When you get denials from out of state BCBS plans through Blue Shield, are you getting accurate denial codes?

They all come in as CO-45, no info on the portal either. No denial notes on the EOB itself either. So I wonder if this is an issue with Blue Shield or something somewhere is set up wrong.

Yes, I will call 😔 but their phone wait times have been kinda bonkers lately 🫩 and their reps are offshore, so I doubt they’re able to tell me anything either.
