Peach is one of my favorite scents in home fragrance but I have been having trouble finding luxury brands that use it! Usually when I search, I have only been finding smaller brands that do peach iced tea or peach cobbler, etc. and I’d rather try something more complex, but where the peach is still prominent. I know Boy Smells made a few I really liked, but of course those are discontinued. I’d also love to hear any other stone fruit candle suggestions! I know fig and citrus are all the rage right now, but I want plum, nectarine and peach scents for the summer!
Finally burning my recently acquired Trudon Versailles! It's gorgeous! What a lovely rich floral. It's cool and damp in Michigan today, I'm anxious for summer so this is a nice fresh scent for today! Coincidentally recently finished watching all 3 seasons of Versailles (currently on prime) which i highly recommend! Great series! Has anyone seen it? What do you think of Trudon versailles? I wish this was one they still had available!
Smells exactly as you'd expect!
Gorgeous design. The sleeves comes up so I suppose it can be reused with a plain candle once used up.
Anyone else tried any of these? There is a Soy Sauce one which sounds...interesting!
Trudon changed the design of their brass bee candle topper (for the worse, IMO). Perhaps the new art deco-looking design will grow on me and I'm sure that some people will think it's wonderful, but the original bee topper was quite lovely and I'm sad to see it go.
If you've been on the fence about the bee topper for a while and want the old design, it might be a good time to try to find it from a retail store.
Into the forest forever 💚
Although it’s not a new release, I didn’t have one until a couple of months ago and now it’s one of my top 5 favorites of all time.
Safari is an underrated one from them that I got on super sale last year and really enjoy.
The Barbie one is smoky and sweet cold, quite intrigued by it and pleasantly surprised.
The tomato one is tomato-ing nicely. Not too sharp. I like it.
I might go back for more into the forest, who knows?
Moderation is obviously absent from this whole endeavor 😂
Would love to start this thread to share any Memorial Day sales coming up!
I’ve been a luxury candle burner for a long time but I’ve never used hurricanes. I want to try one in hopes that it might help project the scent in my home with larger rooms/higher ceilings. I had no idea they could be so expensive! I’ve fallen in love with a few at Ralph Lauren, but before investing heavily in any pieces of that caliber I feel like I should try something more affordable.
Where are we buying hurricanes? Which brands do you all like for hurricanes? Not sure if I’ll end up with junk if I buy something second hand or Amazon basic level. Do some of our beloved candle brands all sell hurricanes too?
Thanks!
New candle, and a question for those who use warmers!
I was debating whether or not to spend $120 on a candle because I already spend so much on fragrances, and I almost bought a dupe, but something possessed to me to pull the trigger, partially because I use a warmer and my candles all last a very long time. I don't know much about candles, but it fills the room with scent nicely without being overbearing, and it looks wonderful under the warmer. Very happy with the purchase! On a side note, this is a new warmer to replace an old one that I got tired of, and the instructions said to pour out wax after every 5-6 uses. Is this something I have to do? It feels wasteful. And how much wax exactly?
It’s easy to imagine what predictable scents like rose, vanilla, and lavender would smell like when shopping online. Or even a candle called Spa or Spa Day.
Would you shop a new, complex, or unique scent online without smelling it first? I would consider DS and Durga and Boy Smells in this category.
Still, these are known brands. How about if it were from lesser known brands? Do you only shop predictable scents online?
I see many interesting candles online but can’t imagine what they smell like. I believe most US based brands have a good return policy.
I’ve been into luxury candles for a few years, and Diptyque was never the brand that immediately grabbed me. I respected it, obviously, but I was never stockpiling it the way I would if I found Trudon on sale somewhere (the kind of sale that makes you briefly understand looting).
One of my first Diptyque purchases was Tubéreuse, which made sense because I love a strong, slightly cloying white floral. I’ve repurchased it in different sizes over the years, but overall, Diptyque was never my main obsession.
Then I picked up Paris last year and loved the scent, though the throw was pretty soft for me. To be fair, my house is old and always cold inside. It’s basically insulated like a Yeti cooler thanks to multiple generations of renovations— brick, plaster, Sheetrock, and spray foam. I’ve learned that ambient temperature, humidity, ceiling height, and room size all seem to have a huge impact on candle performance, so I try not to judge too harshly based on how something performs in my house.
Anyway, I had smelled 34 Boulevard Saint Germain in fragrance form before (both the EDT and EDP) and neither worked for me. Though the EDT is lighter, they are both very heavy. The openings felt very green, herbaceous, almost medicinal, and then it became a little too floral-vanilla for my taste. I don’t really do vanilla fragrances. I have a vanilla-candle-loving aunt who says “uh-oh, somebody’s in trouble” when a police car drives by and treats Kohl’s Cash like legal tender, so vanilla has always been complicated for me emotionally.
But apparently Bluemercury selling my data is worth 15% off, because I am sadly a complete slut for a coupon. So I picked up 34 in the new medium vessel.
First of all: the vessel is a major upgrade. I had Tubéreuse in the older medium size years ago, and while the fragrance was beautiful, the vessel itself felt a little underwhelming. This new one feels much more considered. More substantial. More curated. More worthy of the price.
As for the scent, I needed a minute with it.
Before buying, I read every possible description: “luxe,” “beautiful,” “indulgent,” “smells like a Diptyque boutique,” “an Indian market with spices and flowers.” Naturally, I had no idea what the hell to expect.
My first impression is that it is definitely floral, so if you hate florals, this may not be your girl… but maybe it is? Because it’s not a simple floral. It’s sophisticated. It’s not a sweet, or cloying floral, and while it has a certain lightness, it’s very stuffy. And I mean that as a compliment.
If Baies is gateway Diptyque, 34 is generational wealth with fresh hydrangeas, suspiciously good lamps, and a housekeeper who knows where the bodies are buried. It’s what I envision Nancy Meyers burning in every room of her house. Which, to be clear, is not my actual life, but I’m happy for my bathroom to smell like it while I continue finding candy wrappers in coat pockets I forgot I owned.
There’s spice here, but not gourmand spice. It reads more herbal and dry. The perfume version of 34 has a licorice note that can lean medicinal to my nose, but I don’t get that from the candle. There’s something almost tea-like about it. Not Earl Grey or black tea, exactly, but maybe a fruity herbal tea when you first open the tin.
There’s also a potpourri quality, but in a chic, expensive way, not the “growing up in the 1990s with a woven basket of potpourri behind the toilet, held stiffly together by several layers of dust and hairspray” way. On one sniff, I’m tempted to lazily call it “old lady,” which is both unfair and meaningless. On the next sniff, I think it smells incredibly elegant.
She has a secret or two.
Overall, I’m thrilled with it. It feels floral, dry, herbal, polished, and very Diptyque. I don’t think this would be my go-to in peak Florida heat or the dead of winter, but for spring or fall? Gorgeous.
And unfortunately for my bank account, I am now emotionally preparing myself for the 1500g version (by which I mean performing my nightly do-si-do of adding it to cart, then removing it from cart).

I recently tried Dr. Vranjes Rosso Nobile diffuser, I was very excited for it as I know it’s one of their most popular fragrances, unfortunately it did not work for me. I just couldn’t smell anything other than grape juice. I returned it and looking to order a new diffuser but I don’t have a local store to sample. A few scents I love, Flamingo Estate Rosemary Tuscany, Jo Malone Green Tomato. Does anyone have any recommendations for which diffuser scent from Dr. Vranjes I might like? Thanks in advance!
I love all candles and will fully admit I even love Bath & Body Works because I find they’re often more consistent with throw than some niche/luxury brands. I especially love supporting smaller brands as well.
I’ve tried a ton of brands over the years, but in everyone’s personal experience, which candle brands consistently have a low hot throw? Basically what I call a “bathroom candle.”
I know every brand has hits and misses, and some scent categories like vanilla naturally tend to be softer. I don’t need something that blows me out of the house, but I’d still like enough throw to comfortably fill a bedroom.
Curious what brands people have found consistently lighter/subtle overall.
I went to France earlier this month and I’ve been trying to keep up the vibes of effortless elegance at home ever since.
Burning Reggio today, who doesn’t seem to get much attention here, but that’s ok ☺️
Although I didn’t bring home any candles from any fancy houses (I was in Bordeaux and the neighboring countryside, not Paris) I did bring home these fun antique books from the brocante, and snagged a piece of driftwood from our trip to Cap Ferret.
Cheers to French fragrance summer!
Hello everyone! Has anyone here burnt a Lladro candle? Particularly the Paradise scent? Thank you.
After doing some shopping at my local farmers market this weekend, I decided to beeline into ABC Home and ended up on a mini impromptu sniffing excursion, where I sampled a few new brands that I figured would be fun to share with the community!
Right at the front, they had a huge display for a brand I hadn’t heard of before - UK-based Perfumer’s Story. I am leery of flash-in-the-pan brands, but the nose behind this house, Azzi Glasser, seems to have some actual legitimacy and is associated with Agent Provocateur and Bella Freud. They had six candles out - Sacred Wood, Twisted Iris, Fig Ambrette, Black Moss, Rain on Earth, and Fever 54. All were quite interesting and felt layered, but also heavy. I liked Sacred Wood a lot but can’t fathom burning it in the current weather. Rain on Earth is an great petrichor, perhaps one of the better ones I’ve come across. I am not a petrichor person, but it still felt like a standout to me. I have no idea about burn quality, and the square vessel is giving me heartburn… Has anyone else heard of this house? I passed on buying for now, but it was fun to find something new :)
I then sampled AdV - ABC really beefed up their display, which was feeble at one point (John Derian Company is my usual go-to for AdV in NYC). I ended up snagging a bottle of their Commune de Paris eau de cologne. It’s so refreshing and bright - has a little barbershop, fugere action which aren’t my usual profiles but it’s so well done. I will be dousing myself in it all summer.
And then I came across another new discovery, Liberty candles. I know Liberty is a beloved luxury department store in London, and I’ve smelled a few of their in-house perfumes before, which ABC also carries, but I had never smelled their candles. I immediately loved Stately Bouquet. I have no idea why they named it this, as it’s not really a floral candle - it’s a juicy, happy, fruity candle with some musks. It made me happy as soon as I smelled it, and as someone who is not a major florals person, I was actually happy about the misleading title. Can’t wait to burn it.
Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday - and if you’re on the East Coast, like I am, I hope you’re basking in all the “spring is finally here” vibes this weather is serving!
Hi, I’m getting married at the end of July in California and my wedding theme is Mediterranean summer. I’m currently looking at diptyque figuier as my signature scent seeing as it fits the theme and it’s also generally amazing lol. I’m looking to buy the 1500g, but figuier is known for its lighter throw, is that still the case for the XL size?? Should I be worried people won’t smell it? I’m also open to other options like Diptyque Baies or other houses.
Also bonus question for people who had outdoor weddings, did you burn multiple small candles or one large candle?
