Flamingo Estate haul + new limited release!
Last weekend during the FE sale I decided to go over to their pop-up shop in Highland Park (Los Angeles) to make my purchase to save shipping and I was also a bit undecided on which ones I wanted. I've burned about half of their offerings and just felt like having a sniff, maybe try something new.
I knew I wanted a second Sappho Fig - currently burning that one and really enjoying it. Thought maybe I'd revisit Sage as it was the first FE I'd burned, and possibly Olive Tree. That said, after reading so many rave reviews on Princesstarta on this sub, I wanted to give it another chance with my nose as initially I'd dismissed it as being too sweet and too gourmand for my liking. This time I pulled the trigger as it smelled like a very intoxicating, sexy perfume...gonna wait til fall to burn that one.
The sales associate was pushing Banana Leaf - not impressed. What I wasn't expecting is a brand new scent, apparently not even launched online yet - Archangelica. Immediately drawn to the name, I had a whiff and the cold throw in the shop was a bit subtle for me to pick up on much (they have candles burning in there you can smell it from the street). But reading the notes had me super intrigued and I pulled the trigger (even though exempt from the promotion... what can I say I fell for the "exclusivity").
I haven't burned it yet - will report back when I do - but the cold throw, now that I'm back in my home, is delightful and I can't stop sniffing it. Smells super fresh and clean yet complex and not soapy - spicy but not overly so. I get a bit of mint and bright citrus in there...maybe celery from the angelica root? But there's also an earthiness there. Hard to describe but I'm super into it. Admittedly I wasn't familiar with angelica root so I looked up the scent profile ("a complex profile reminiscent of a damp forest floor mixed with herbal celery, sharp spice, and a rare natural plant musk"). Might end up burning similar to Green Goddess without the salad dressing/vegetable notes I get, or perhaps Petrichor but better.
