ABOLISH THIS TEST

Can someone please start a petition to get rid of this test. I understand wanting to measure applicants’ “soft” skills, but this is clearly not the way. I think it’s extremely ironic that Acuity wants applicants to gather all information on a situation before coming to a conclusion, but then grade us on a 1-minute oral response which is no where near enough time to give proper answers. Additionally, this test is extremely unreliable and has literally been scientifically proven to have absolutely zero correlation to how ethical an individual actually is. Acuity Insights and McMaster University is a scam and you cannot tell me otherwise.

How is casper still a thing???

I scored 4th quartile last year with minimal studying (as I did not want to sound buzzwordy, etc.). Prepared in the exact same manner this year and just received a 1st quartile score. This test makes ZERO sense at all.

I was just looking at DALs requirements…

Don’t cancel me but is this not a little odd? Maybe I don’t fully understand the new change, but it seems like Dalhousie will only be accepting out of province people if they are Indigenous or Black. I understand levelling the playing field and making sure that everyone has equal opportunities but completing cutting off every applicant who isn’t part of that demographic seems a little backwards.

What has this subreddit become

I understand some of the posts become a little repetitive and all but if someone asks a question that has already been answered elsewhere you don’t have to be a dick about it. I just saw some commenter blasting someone for posting a genuine question… like what are you gaining from that.

And to think those kinds of people are going to be our future doctors…

Updated Transcript

I’m just finishing up two classes and will be submitting my transcript to the AADSAS but I am a little confused if this gets added to my gpa or not. If so, do they create a new application PDF with my updated gpa?

Point form responses?

For context I took the Casper last year (Canadian one) and scored Q3. I think one of my biggest issues is that my typing is quite slow (~50 wpm). I’m wondering if anyone has had success in answering the written questions in point form. On the website it says this is allowed but I was just wondering other peoples opinions on this.

Confirmation of Complete Application

Does anyone know if every school sends a confirmation email when your application is complete and therefore under review. Or do some schools just not say anything at all.

New prices are crazyyy

Bought a base M5 MacBook Pro with 16gb ram and 512 ssd (don’t make this variant anymore) in December of last year for $2100 CAD. They increased the prices a few months later to $2400 CAD and increased storage to 1tb base. Now they’re selling the exact same computer (M5 16gb 1tb) for $2800 CAD. That’s actually so insane. Glad I bought it when I did.

Question about schools

Is there a point in applying to University of Minnesota or University of New England as a Canadian? (I.e. have they been known to accept Canadians?)

Health sci programs are dumb

I know people feel really passionately about this topic, but can we just talk about how dumb health sci programs are. How is it that someone in a program requiring you to take easy classes that are there purely just to boost your gpa is seen more favourably than someone else in an inherently harder program (like engineering for example). It makes no sense. Not to mention that the people who get into health sci programs are usually quite smart and LIKE science classes but end up taking fucking yoga at McMaster just because they know they’ll do well. I know don’t hate the player hate the game but like these programs will never make sense to me.

EDIT: This is targeted predominantly to Mac, Queens, and Western health sci
